I went to the ocean for Independence Day. Given how far away I live from it, I think it's fascinating and really beautiful. I'm sure every beach shot has been done to death but I was in the zone and having a great time.

Here I simulated a graduated density filter with gentle blue tint from the top. Is it too much? Noticeable?

I had meant centered vertically. It's kind of a preferance thing since right now theyre on the bottom third line but with how wide it is i think having those subjects centered vertically would be more striking, You also get a wider gradient of blue to tan/sand color but you maybe would have had to change the angle of the shot to accomplish that. Either way its a nice shot.

The storms on the beach were daily. Five inches of rain in five days, but that's just July.

I've never taken a shot of a storm cell like this before. When I took it, it didn't look like the classic storm cell photos you see from weather photography. It wasn't until I brought it into my editor and dialed in the range and contrast. I'm very happy with this shot.

I'm trying to figure out how to get pictures of stars, but I can't strike a good balance for the exposure time. Too long makes the stars streak from moving, not long enough doesn't make them show, and high iso looks like dog anus.

Welcome to astro, where everything is fighting against you. You can get a tracking mount for your tripod which would let you take longer exposures, or you'll need to buy a camera with a bigger sensor. There's some major nerdage that can go into how to do astro photos properly, but the reality is you've probably reached the extent of what the phone can do for you.

My max exposure time available is 32 seconds. That's long enough for a small steak, but not like some of the ones I've seen where the streaks take up a large portion of the sky.

This is a 32 second exposure, which, admittedly was more than I realized stars moved in such a short time.

Different iso.

And I love that van. I would make it my daily driver. But it's probably been sitting there longer than I've been alive, and it's sad. My mom said it used to be in parades.

Yes to all.

People are an uninteresting subject. Most of them look so similar you can lump them into a few archetypes. Their lives are not so different either. There are billions of them.

I feel for them, but none of them are the main characters of earth, and most of them are easy to dislike. I would rather look at dogs and cats because I might see some newish behavior, instead of just some jewish behavior.

Crazy lashes on that deer. Is this IR? I’m on a photography adventure and can’t process more IR for a week or so.

I am a sucker for compositions with shadows that contrast. The boulder shadow caught my eye, jarring next to the soft cloud shadows on the water.

I took something similar last night. Noticed a rather red moon from my balcony and went to chase it. Took this from some industrial parking lot, with Olympus E500 since I lack any telephoto for "better" cameras. Too bad the options for composition were rather limited, and the moon could only be shot through a narrow gap in the treeline.

The vignetting is a little strange. Seems strong and feels like it's only pulling highlights down rather than everything. It makes the edges seem flat rather than dark. It's having the opposite effect a vignette should have on me.
