$5k wtf? How? At that price just pay the little bit extra for a Leica Q3. Then you also get the status symbol which this won't have because it's a Sony.

For what itโ€™s worth, the first two versions were considered very good, if expensive. This just seems excessive though.

At least it's 61mp and seems to be less noisy than the a7rv.

>>4447775
Street photographers = idiots tax.

But with the a7rv you pay the vidiot tax of your camera being bloated up and noisier so it supports more codecs and higher framerates
And with the a7cr you pay a lesser form of the vidiot tax and dont even get a whole shutter

So everything is shit, really

And 1/8th the miniaturization chops of phone manufacturers

if apple entered the ILC market, sony fuji and nikon would crumble. it would just be apple making good cameras for sane people and canon continuing to sell huge blobs like the R1 to sports sideline photographers

Doesn't snoy already have a compact 61 megapickles camera? Probably a smallish 35 f2 as well? How does that compare in terms of size, price and performance?

There's not much to compete on. Every modern sensor looks good. Every modern lens is sharp and any slight imperfection can be fixed in post and prosumer weird shit has been completely destroyed by phones.
That's why gear threads are so gay. It's just autists hyper aggressively splitting hairs

pretty much all sony cameras can be considered compact next to blobs from canon or nikon
doesn't make them any more ergonomic but it's cool that you can just shove them in your jacket pocket

I guess they're trying to steal hipster faggots away from leica but I feel like this product segment and price range is really small and already saturated. Completely retarded product, I'm utterly blown away that the "prestige" product segment of $5,000+ fixed lens cameras exists at all.

there's actually a lot of subtle hardware differences in everything stacked on top of and under the basic monochrome cmos sensor

bayer arrays, aa filters, ir and uv filters, protective covers, microlenses, adcs, amps and literally any other electrical engineering part i'm missing are all different camera to camera. and then lens coatings are unique and filter color. it's why there's weird shit going on like nikon's 45mp camera has different grain structure than canon's and canon, nikon, and sony's 24mp cameras all produce slightly different color/detail rendition no matter what you do, and hasselblad gets better color and brighter exposures than fuji medium format despite technically using the same sensor (because the sensor is just a bunch of little greenish squares that absorb light and turn it into an electrical charge, and literally everything else is different)

if you want to bitch about something bitch about batteries or lens mounts

The really grim part is that people buying cameras (at retail at least) don't even appreciate the differences in cameras past the spec sheet.
Until you really put an olympus cameras in someone's hands and show them how far it zooms they usually just think 24+ MP is all that matters.

>>4447768 (OP)

The actual raw sensor data is voltages and has already been fucked with by proprietary glass filters, lenses, and the lens itself

>>4447930
As always, this is comparing 3 shitty lenses with a lens that isn't actually sony's smallest. Their smallest is the zeiss 35mm f2.8, which is the same length as the nikon pancake with its obligatory "hood" that's actually the other half of the lens barrel.

Sony is outselling all 3 of these brands in the FF market. Canon's market share is heavily reliant on APS-C.

There is nothing grim about this. These people definitely take more photos than you do, and theirs are probably better. Only autistic gearfags give a shit about pixel peeping past 24mp.

Every real photographer IS an autistic gearfag. How do you think hasselblad and phase one stay in business? The greatest photographers on earth shoot celebs not because celebs are worth caring about, but because daddy wants a new P1 IQ180 and a set of rodentstock primes.
