yeah nah not bad but thereโ€™s room for improvement
I would bring some contrast in between the light surface of the water and the dark silhouette of the boat
and ditch the white border because you already โ€œframedโ€ the shot with the handrails
watch you donโ€™t bring too much lightness into the background adjusting the lightness of the water if you decide to take my advice

I'd do what the other anon said and lighten the sky a bit. The white point is just so low

The picture itself may be good, but your editing kinda lacks adjustments.
Incorrect exposure and lack of detail.
Is it what you call black and white? Your photo is literally gray.

It's all about light.

You need to ask yourself what you are trying to communicate with your photograph.

This >>4449084 For example.
Wtf am I supposed to take away from this shot. Your job as a photographer is to capture something significant.

I took this photo for me, not having your own expectations in mind.
If the same rules would apply to you, more than 2/3 of your snapshits would be gone.
Significance my ass, who are you trying to impose rules to my photography? Go fuck yourself and have a great day.

So what's the photo speaks to you about?

Photography is a visual language.
Just like english: one of spoken, written languages, which you just used to reflect the topic and try to hide your insecurity by unnecessarily hostile manner.
Although it paradoxically expresses your insecurity even more prominently.

What the an asian in a suit anon said is you should establish a sense of order in your expression, your language, your photography.

Otherwise your expression will become so random, a mere accumulation of factoids and most importantly it can speak something that you never intended to.

Ego never helps your photography or anything else.

The purpose of photography, for me, is to register memorable moments.
I don't care about using it as a way of communication, I do it for fun.

Feel free to use it otherwise, and once again, don't try to rule how people should photograph.

impossible for opinionated /p/haggots to grasp this
every photo must exist inside the box of what they think a photo is and if one doesnโ€™t they will sperg out
conservatism is very stifling to creativity

It's autism. Autisms must categorize and file everything to feel safe in their chaotic world. Often times they will succumb to the binary thinking trap, which is a death sentence to any artistic or creative endeavor.

A photo is whatever you want it to be and use it however you want. Just because you use it like you do, it doesn't mean it's law your arrogant piece of shit.

And it's not autism either

It's being a midwit, and midwits are on both sides of the political spectrum causing stagnation wherever they go. Midwits love to define things and then behave as arbiters of right and wrong. Hence their attraction to philosophy. Interacting with midwits, left or right, feels like this
>Heh, I'm right in ways you do not even understand!
>Sir, you have been arguing in favor of legalizing bestiality and lowering the age of consent to 3. Because uh, let me check my notes here, the ethical implications of national borders and veganism?

I think the photo should always be displayed with the film of the same events, so you can (if you donโ€™t already) how photography can be a powerful narrative shaping tool. You get an entirely different impression of what happened from the still vs the film.
