Creating custom LUTs/ICC profiles
I've figured out an extremely wonky pipeline of taking a digital photo, exporting it as a linear tiff to a python program that emulates a developed negative of Kodak 250D, and then using Negative Lab Pro to invert it.

It works perfectly but it takes forever, so I want to shoot a color test chart, do the whole process and then build a LUT or profile from the color chart that skips all of the intermediate steps so it can be done in one click in lightroom or whatever program. How can this be done?

There are color checker plugins that look at a picture in lightroom. Idk if that helps you, but maybe you could trick it.

Just buy or pirate a lightroom preset

I've tried enough presets, they all look like shit.

Then shoot a test chart and rebuild it in lightroom yourself

pretty sure you can do this in photoshop but i haven't used ps in years, i know you can create luts from screenshots in resolve. for what you're doing you have to invert at every step

Agreed. 90% of the time doing nothing except setting brightness&contrast to auto is better than the preset

Took me 5 seconds to ask ChatGPT and obtain a usable answer. Why the fuck are you wasting our time with this shit?

check this video. he essentially does the thing you want to do, has a link to a lutcreator script in the desc.
anyway, skip all this and use dehancer.

Ill give the haldlut converter a shot hanks

i've tried dehancer in both resolve and lightroom, and i feel like it worked perfectly on every 3rd photo, constant fighting against weird color casts and too many sliders that stepped on one another. white balancing any picture is close to impossible with their profiles, and the in app exposure compensation is straight up broken. works great when it does though.

do not touch the sliders then.
prepare the file in lightroom or whatever (correct exposure, color temperature, -50 or so contrast, desaturate slightly, no curves), then only use the film/print, maybe the color boost to get the look (if youre feeling brave add grain and bloom, the halation is even more broken than the first module...), finish the image in photoshop (curves to fix the contrast/color casts)
anyway, the youtube guy has more videos on the topic, i think its worth the time even if you dont end up doing all the crazy stuff he does

Those incidents are staged. AI doesn't think for itself. They train alts on a racist dataset until they generate racist answers and then unleash them for the lulz.

Not plastic though

Just use CaptureOne's match look feature
Just a few clicks to get whatever grading you want, better than a LUT too

linear tiff is huge takes ages to write and read maybe by lut you mean matrise color correction

you mean the real unfiltered world? yeah, it does that.

how did it go
what are your results anyway, i am interested.

I may post the results later, but if you want to take a look at the program, it’s called agx_emulsion on GitHub. It’s a bit wonky to install and it takes like 90 seconds to compute a full resolution image. It’s neat but it takes a ludicrous amount of time, the parameters are confusing and transferring files back and forth between programs sucks.

I tried to make a haldclut but even with the grain and halation turned off it’s doing too much computational stuff and the LUT was broken.

I also found you can get to basically the same starting point by using negative lab pro on a digital raw file, it flattens things out in a pretty nice way and has some nice highlight and shadow compression sliders.
Anonymous No.4456711 [Report]
>>4456408
that is a crazy piece of software, its like dehancer, but "pro". thats gonna take some time getitng used to.
yeah, you cant have anything like that in a cube lut, watch out for hidden microcontrast (dehaze/texture/etc) settings too, they mostly fuck everything up.

These fake film fx always produce images that look like bad digital images fucked up to look like bad film images. They all look like shit

Dehancer lightroom plugin is pretty good. Easy to pirate as well, just have to look around a bit. I like it since I don't have to alter my workflow much, import to lightroom after cull and just 'edit in > dehancer' the ones I want to fuck with
Anonymous No.4456836 [Report]
that seems like alot of work for no gain im sure you can find some filter to make your pictures shitty much easier
