One of Ken's disciples. He was right. Fuji has the best color and the sharpest lenses.

> The Fuji XF 27/2.8 is super sharp.
It's always super sharp throughout almost all of the image at every aperture.
There are no better lenses to use on the Fuji system at any price. Forget slumming with LEICA or other off-brand lenses and adapters; you can't get anything sharper and any other lens won't autofocus or autoexpose or log data or be optimized by the camera's DSP, and no other lens will have a diaphragm that opens and closes automatically as needed for focus and shooting.

Sadly I was already at 400 ISO at 1/30 sec. and f/2.8. Getting the car sharp on a stationary shot would have been pushing the ISO to 51200.

It's blurry mostly because of the shutter speed, I'd be pushing close to 1/1000 to get both the car and background sharp. So 1/1000 sec, f/5.6 but realistically f/8 would be better. That's push me into that 25600-51200 bracket. The shot realistically ain't working in those conditions without something looking like shit.
BurtGummer !!96etipKDKVm No.4453527
Anonymous No.4453589 >>4453596
>>4453526
it's blurry for both reasons. That's why I'm saying you could try bracing the camera somehow if you don't want to have crazy iso. You can also brace with a standard neck strap by pulling the strap taught by pushing the camera away from you while the strap is around your neck.
Obviously I could tell you to just buy a camera with stabilization or carry a tripod. Just trying to give you some low cost ideas
Anonymous No.4453596 >>4453599
>>4453589
It's not a bracing/stabilization issue, it's a moving object issue. Either the car is sharp, the background is sharp, or if I want both sharp I need to run a far higher shutter speed so following the car is a moot point. Which means cranking up the ISO to compensate due to the low light.

Depth of field, but also sharpness improves and optical aberrations reduce until the diffraction limited aperture (typically f5.6 f8 or f11 depending on the camera) at which point the image becomes progressively lower resolution
>Shutter speed
Fast=freeze action but also if something is going very fast consider this
https://improvephotography.com/44172/focal-plane-shutter-affects-photos/
>ISO
What ISO actually does depends on the specific camera model and literal essays have been written about it. On very good cameras, there are only two actual ISOs and the rest are just brightness. On meh cameras every ISO is speshul and changes a bunch of stuff. Delve into photographic dynamic range, expose to the right, shadow improvement curves, and sensor analysis if you dare.
>AF-S is single focus?
He refers to single focus not continuous focus, yeah, it's called focus and recompose, a technique for getting more creatively framed static shots out of limited focusing systems typical to SLRs and rangefinders. MF is for, well, turning the focus ring manually.

Thanks man. Yeah too many photos of peoples backs is no bueno and killing the genre. And that other guy is just wrong, I’m very upfront about when I do street portraits and that was street photography. I’ve been actually going for more eye contact images recently which doesn’t change it to a portrait. The guy was fucking saluting the air or the baseball stadium or the cybertruck I dunno. I didn’t ask. I walked up to him, he looked at me, I took his photo. It doesn’t matter anyway the two genres are not harshly defined and they blend into each other.

Pic related: they are pointing at that no photo retard who thinks he is the authority on my work

Street can happen in a way that it looks like portraiture if you work to get there. Too many people on this board think street is just back of heads because otherwise it must be staged, since interacting with strangers is so daunting.

Depending on how large the event is, you might be able to weasel your way ringside with a little smooth talking to the right people. Figure out who to contact, send an email, show up early, idk. It requires some improv and confidence. Lying through your teeth to get the shot you need is a valid photography skill. Like all skills, it requires practice.

that blue pool is nearly white, same as that gray concrete. ergo, that area is overexposed. try reducing the exposure or rein in the highlights using sliders, or adjust the tone curve. Other anons might have their own methods. I prefer to adjust the tone curve. The shadows are placed fine.

if I’m wrong and the reflections from the pool edge and concrete were accurately exposed, definitely confine yourself to shady areas or seek another time of day to photograph because that brightness is very harsh.

>imo looks like a memory scene from a movie
yeah true, in that case you could go even further in this direction
more brightness, some desaturation, maybe a crop closer to the kids in the pool for a stronger nostalgic/childhood memory feeling
apply some contrast to the tones between the near-white/white areas and the midtones of the swimmers, make them stand out a bit more (if you try a crop). I usually do this with the second tone curve in RawTherapee, idek how to do it in other software.
when it's experimental all bets are off Β―\_(ツ)_/Β―
maybe some vignetting would make it feel "distant" in time as well. maybe black-and-white or a film sim even? could help evoke a "fading" feeling.

>What ISO actually does depends on the specific camera model and literal essays have been written about it.
It's next to impossible for me to understand what ISO actually does. It doesn't help that its name is based on film stock ratings and its most common comparison is with gain on amplifiers.
>Delve into photographic dynamic range, expose to the right, shadow improvement curves, and sensor analysis if you dare.
Gonna add colour spaces to this. Verifying that the colours coming from your camera, displaying on your screen and saving to your hard drive as a JPEG are the colours you want or even see can be like pulling on a thread and unravelling your entire shirt.
