Selfie for work

well what are you working with? like a phone selfie or portraiture w/ like a camera and tripod?? either way just find a nice background, figure out your most flattering angle, and smile

sit further away from the camera so you dont get fishface
light one side of your body with a window and prop up a big white piece of posterboard (or coat it in silver tinfoil if its still too dim) to reflect the same light onto the part of you that's in shadow so the camera picks it up without weird colors
do these two things and you've done more advanced photography than most of these worthless building corner snappers

The iPhone 8 has a better (less processed) camera than the 16. It's kind of sad.
Just give it bright enough light and it's sharp enough.
