How to make the smallest fixed lens full frame high megapixel camera. The compromises they made is what had to be done in order to make it seem like progression as consumers are used to seeing massive upgrades from one model to the next when they are now facing difficulties squeezing more into them. Adding a flippy/tilty screen would probably have made it thicker than the previous model thus it would also have been something to complain about. Add IBIS and it will be as large as the A7CR which is a cheaper camera with the option to change lenses etc.
It is really more of a proof of concept camera. Probably cool for extremely specific use-cases such as outdoor photography in sunny days, but beyond that it is probably a terrible camera for almost every situation.

I did actually want them to release a newer model but...

Why would they remove the flip screen? I struggle to understand how this is an upgrade over the previous model. It just seems like an excuse to jew YouTubers and cash in like Fuji did releasing old cameras to hipsters

It at least better have a7cii tier autofocus and sooc colours as 2015 Sony colour science was ass on the older models. Only good for black and white

What's unique about the Vivo is that the main camera is 35mm instead of the pleb-tier 23mm that most phones have. Pair that with a (very nearly) 1" sensor, it's pretty amazing.

- New 25.74MP APS-C sensor (likely the one in the Sony A6700)
- redesigned lens for additional corner sharpness
- new battery improving number of shots by 25%
- microsd with 53gb of internal storage
- flash attachment
-rear control dial is gone
- real top dial is now a proper dial
- brings back the zoom rocker style button on the back
- slightly smaller / lighter

x100 sealing, even with the recommended filter, has never actually worked better than a non-sealed camera lucking out with being tight fit and not getting anything too conductive on anything too important

fuji WR is a marketing term. their sealed and non-sealed cameras do equally well in the rain

It’s leica’s strategy too. Piss poor build and negative value but they have cultists who depend on the brand for the "im a real photographer unlike you" image they need to purchase. Note they cant do this with a real film camera because they are not real photographers.

No. Chinkshit and appleshit are not "nicer phones". I'll rather use a phone that I find useful and I'll get a camera that I think makes me a better photographer. You're being a fuji fanboy. Even if you do not own a fuji, anyone who points out how poorly made and unpopular their cameras are outside of your youtube recommendation bubble is a "gearfag". This is what fanboys do.

micro four thirds is micro four thirds. all the dark current read noise photon 2lognev chart slop in the world doesn't change the visible results. i dont think engineers should be allowed anywhere near marketing or product development. they should answer to designers, photographers, and other more conceptual, abstract minds.

I have a Sony ZV1, its surprisingly bulky if I add a cpl filter (11x7x6cm). I use it as a travel cam when I don't want to carry a FF DSLR or a 20 year old CCD DSLR.

A Nikon Z30 is $400 refurbished and has a APSC vs 1in Sensor while measuring 13x7.4x7cm with the 16-50mm kit lens. I have the same focal length on the ZV1 (9.4-25.7mm = 24-70mm Zeiss f1.8-2.8) as the APSC kit lenses.

Should I just take the plunge and buy one before my ZV1 loses more value? I can still get $400 if I trade my ZV1 in at MPB/Adorama. I mostly use it for photography anyways never video.

Sony ZVE10 is like 12x7x7cm too but those go for $5-600 used usually on eBay/FB Market with a 16-50mm OSS lens.

I have no complaints with the focussing or worms either. Build quality on the Japanese-made X-T2 is great and a really nice EVF.

Are we in disagreement here? I don't think so. If Olympus used exactly the same sensor on a $500 camera and on a $2000 camera, it would be a markeing disaster. So they picked whatever slightly more expensive part they could be using, even if it's not much better.

Apart from that, we already kinda knew that Olympus cameras peak at EM/OM-5 and don't make sense at flagship prices.

I'm considering getting the IV later to carry alongside my main (FF with 50mm 1.2) as an alternative to a secondary wide angle lens, since switching lenses in the field has been a pain in the ass and I don't like using zooms.
