Why did they do this?
>best EDC camera I’ve ever had. Truly stunning images out of camera and build quality
>autofocus tech from 2003

Leica users are used to doing more with less
Single point AF-S is all a photographer needs
Continuous automatic subject tracking is for snapshitting

Leica Q3 has a better autofocus, so make the upgrade.

Ha. What brand ambassador told you that?

Leica users also all take the same generic safe snapshits year after year and never improve. They see photography like wearing a 3 piece suit instead of like painting.

when a leica man says build quality he does not mean the camera is actually well made and can survive use as a photographers tool without frequent service he means it's smooth, metal, click-clacks with gun like confidence, and has noticeable weight to it

Bought a Q-P for 2200€ with 2 years waranty. The lens is crazy good. I've had a ton of full frame lenses from all kind of manufactors but nothing came close to that sharpness. EVF is useless though. Also the raw files are so easy to edit, not much adjustments needed for very natural colors. So far no reliability problems. Still thinking of selling it for the GRIV when it comes out because the 2 years waranty time is over soon.

Who said anything about continuous tracking? I literally just want to grab a single focus point on a face center frame, and it hardly is able to do that half the time.

uhm, you dont need more than zone focusing to take photos of old people walking towards the camera, sad hobos, sad thirdies, benches, and pigeons, chud

>compact with a fixed lens of that size
For fuck's sake Leica, just do an interchangeable lens Q, and make it good with rangefinder glass (that means focus peaking from SL with a sensor stack from M).

but then they would no longer be able to fool the unthinking into believing $10k is a fair price for a manual focus only a7rv with the video functions removed

$10k?
Anonymous No.4461867
Because their cameras sell regardless, so there's little reason to spend the money on better tech.

Had a Leica CL which is the last APS-C L mount camera made. No IBIS, ergonomic like a lump of ice in summer, clunky and confusing controls, bad autofocus. Essentially worse than most budget mirrorless aps-c cameras, yet people pay $1500 for body only even though it was made in 2017.

M11s are $9-$10k (and then add tax). Mind you, leica bodies are notoriously buggy and unreliable so you're not paying for quality.

Pixii max's pricing (a low volume product) implies the value of leica should be around $3000-4000 and if a japanese company like nikon decided to make large volumes of photo-only rangefinders without even IBIS, they would be under $2000

Is autofocus something that can be fixed with firmware updates in the future or is this a hardware limitation? does this thing not use the same sensors as sony?

Would love to have a Q3 but I'm too much of a poorfag. I was thinking of getting the Lumix S9 instead because it has a similar form factor and combine it with i-series Sigma lenses. In theory it would get me that compact feel, full frame image quality (but not as sharp). I'm fine without EVF but I'm worried about no mechanical shutter.
