If you can't make money out of your hobbies you're just a larping passive faggot

And if you're not retarded, you get good at it. Most people don't have the discipline and prefer to wallow in mediocrity and never challenge themselves, coping that that's what they actually want. As I said, passive folks.

Yes? That doesn't mean that you need to be a soulless retard that only thinks about the ROI

Trying to make money from the time you invested into getting good at something is not soulless. The goal is escaping the 9 to 5 while doing a thing you love - a nobler intent than most others. People who limit themselves to being passive consumers of their hobby without ever even trying live worse than literal slaves, numbed down by the grind. What a sad life.

this is the exact thing someone who doesnt have a lot of life experience would say there is no faster way to suck the enjoyment out of something than to start it with the intent to do is as a career.
Do you really think famous photographers did that?
No they did it because they enjoyed it and got famous for being that good. Use your brain retard.
It's always the people that actively try to leave the rat race that contribute to involve things that shouldnt be in the rat race the most. Photography isnt in the rat race and it wont be simply because you want it to be. Faggot

I escaped the 9 to 5 through the power of eggs and do photography to express my love for how beautiful and attractive the canine form is

Nope, learning a craft for real involves much more sacrifice and time than a 9 to 5. That's why people don't have the balls to try, it takes courage and willpower - it's easier to just go in the office and type away Excel files then going on Reddit and cry about the alienation of our neoliberal society.

It's precisely my life experiences that led me here. I would have killed myself if I never came to a point where I just couldn't settle for mediocrity anymore. It was soul crushing. Now even if I never make it, at least I tried living.

I have actually made money selling egg prints. Not much for now, but I can say complete strangers have purchased my art.

I got to show a bunch of people some of my 8x10 contact prints. Still lifes and portraits and they said they wanted their own. Who knows if they'll follow through, but they did seem really impressed by them. Exposure is key. Not many people have seen a good contact print.

OP all of you suspicions are right. Photography is greatest art medium but there is no money in it. I would suggest you to slide into film or painting. In both of these fields you can have a career and recognition for your work.

I know utterly dog shit painters who live through by exhibiting their artwork. In comparison I know many good photographers stuck in dead end jobs and living in poverty. Irony is that they don't even get their share of recognition.

You can try your hand at fashion/editorial type shit. Or do wedding photography. But these art mediums are not fulfilling and leave you with blue balls.

Photography is dead thanks to digital cameras and the internet. The era before internet and fully mechanical film slr's was the golden age of photography. The digital age is by far the worst age to live in. We have to go back to an analog world.

Film and analog printing methods are even more special now that less people are using them.
