I found item for sale on ebay, looks like the common and crappy canon18-55mm lens but there is a strange aperture where the front element should be, it doesn't look like a diy thing but factory made. I have never seen something like that, anyone knows that this might be? at first I thought it could be a display model but the description says it closes when the image stabilization is turned on.. makes it even more weird.
I'd buy it out of curiosity but it is in Canada

It's exactly what it looks like, the aperture in these is in front of the other lenses.

Just fucking ask. Its not that difficult to be a normal person.
The dude relisted it with new photos and now we can clearly see that the entire inside of the lens is busted and things are probably rattling around, hence the aperture at the front.

I feel like a good 1/5 ebay sellers that are SELLING PHOTOGRAPHIC EQUIPMENT can't figure out what focus means.

Sellers of photographic equipment being retards can often be beneficial. I've gotten many a good deal because the seller can't figure out how to operate something. One classic is the 35mm SLR that "does not come with a charger" or listings where they have pictures of a camera with a lens with the cap attached so only those with a deeper insight will be able to decipher what they are looking at. I've essentially gotten a free Canon NFD 50 1.4 and 24 2.8 this week because of such behavior. Picked up a flektogon 35mm 2.4 for next to nothing as well because the seller had it listed as the name of the filter that was attached to it.
