I want to film a Timelapse of a plane trail, contrail, chemtrail, whatever it may be. Just to show that they are turning clear sunny days, into a haze. Not quite overcast but a light haze enough to cover the entire sky.
I have witnessed trails starting small; as you would see coming from the plane, and slowly grow and grow. They don’t disappear; just getting wider and wider until it all blends into one big hazy sky.
I’m going to assume wide angle is the best lens.
As for location is the top of mountain going to be my best bet?

Just do a wide angle time lapse anywhere with a clear sky.

However, yes 24mm on a kit lens would probably do just fine. The only real reason to find a specific location is if you wanted nothing but sky in your shot and you live in a crowded hellscape. Otherwise a simple open field will do you, no need to get elevated. It's not like going up a couple hundred meters is going to make the trails that are 20kms away noticably larger in the shot.
Make sure you bring a spare battery or two in case you're doing this over the course of a whole day. Depending on your camera, your time lapse mode might be smart and basically power down between shots keeping the camera alive longer.

what you are seeing is burnt avgas mixed with condensation that naturally forms when metal objects travel through humid air at high speeds

Aircraft exhaust is already a cloud seeding technique whether intended or not. If a jet flies at high altitudes, it creates new cirrus clouds. Every single time. There is no conspiracy needed. It's basic meteorology.

The people planning flight paths might know this and care, or some combination of know/dont know/care/dont care. Cirrus clouds trap heat.

Anon, jets don't use avgas. They use something very similar to kerosin called simply TS-1.
