OP, do not listen to this moronic waste of bandwidth.
General advice is, look up the exposure triangle and understand each of their roles in changing how the photo comes out. Basically:
>Shutter speed
Freezes motion or allows motion blur, a fine line to tread. The longer the shutter is open the more light you capture.
>Aperture
Allows more, or less light in through the lens. Reduces Depth of Field of increases it accordingly.
>ISO
Increases signal (Higher ISO makes the image brighter) but this includes adding noise
There are a few other interactions I've glossed over but that's pretty much all you need to know.
And look at some basic photography composition rules like the Rule of Thirds. These rules aren't gospel so much as ideas to help you compose an image more thoughtfully. I also found that shooting in Black and White simplified things so you can focus on messing with other shit. Last thing, if you shoot JPEG that's fine an' dandy and really who gives a fuck if that's good enough for you. However, if you shoot in RAW as well (most cameras allow both at once) you can go down the rabbit hole of post-processing which is its own thing but allows you to get more creative and/or squeeze more image quality out of your shots.
