Capture one even supports some 20th century medium format cameras

The days of raw being inconvenient are over. Storage is cheaper. Ports are faster. I paid cobalt some change and chips for a canon clone profile for my sony, set it as the default, and everyone thinks i have good colors now.

The fact that there are cameras with ANY jpeg specific settings (like d range opt) outside of video mode but no instagram right on camera really shows how out of touch manufacturers are. Everyone shoots raw now except for people who convinced themselves not to in order to feel like their fujifilm was a better purchase and a specific kind of journalist.

dng is retarded
raw converters get better over time. you can run your old canon raws from 2004 through the new converters and get out better image quality than before.
dng on the other hand? it bakes in the data. it's essentially a 16bit tiff - already developed. dng "developers" won't ever get better. you will never get more out of your image data.

Not necessarily. DNG doesn't have to be demosaic'd. Ricoh RAWs are in DNG format I think.

The fact that unpaid opensource commies have sort of reverse engineered most raw formats doesn't mean there shouldn't exist an open format, given how all camera sensors are more or less the same anyway.
