Auto modes have always been and forever will be trash. The best mode for general shooting is aperture priority with auto ISO and shutter speed cutoffs set to the most you can tolerate. This is actually even easier than full auto because you gain virtually all the control of manual mode and all the (theoretical) convenience of auto mode (it actually ends up being real fucking inconvenient when it gets settings wrong 100% of the time) at the price of controlling a single setting (which you should WANT to be controlling anyway).

its meant for women who have been handed the camera. women can not even use aperture priority without cranking exposure compensation +5 by accident or do back button focus so there’s a retard mode that restricts them as much as possible. the real modes are

s - for sports photography
a - for art photography

I think it does. If you set the minimum shutter in the settings for example on 1/50, the dial will then overwrite this value if you go above it.
But this isn't too far from manual mode then anyway
