Holy shit, I thought it was just another (((Winogrand))) worshiper but it's also another one of the tribe. Unbelievable that this slop gets promoted but I guess putting the limelight on some garbage like this is enough to trick no-talent snapshitters into thinking their work (for that's what they call their photos) is worthy of consideration.

Imagine being a Leica salesman at an expo and having to be all like "damn, Joel Meyerowitz, you fuckin' genius, all talented with your random shot of nobodies doing nothing in NY streets where you couldn't even get a photo where they're not blinking. I would totally award you a prize for photography" when all you want to do is talk to Arri girls instead. Like seriously imagine having to be that guy and not only stand in that booth while Joel's forgettable pictures are flaunted in front of you, the white frames barely concealing their lack of meaning, and just stand there, NPC after NPC , hour after hour, while they perfect the con. Nothing interesting in frame, boring SOOC colours, all subjects look like they'd rather be anywhere else.
You can feel the contempt that the dude in the Barbour jacket feels.
Street can be done well, if you've actually gone through one of Cartier-Bresson's photobooks you can see that, but this is the kind of photo that makes me want to dismiss the entire genre.
I actually went to a Leica Gallery in Amsterdam about a month ago, there was an exhibit celebrating 750 years of the cities history, and all of the photos were random street snapshits. On a few you could even see the jpeg artifacts on the print.

I like the photos were people are just meant to show them in relation to something the photographer thinks is neat, be it spicy light or architecture etc. Just capturing people's expressions is a cheap way of getting a reaction. The photo in my opinion is boring and lacks creative intent. It is just a snapshit.

Most of my time on this site has been on /a/ and /b/. In the past 10 or so years I've used /r9k/ a lot too since /b/ got ruined post-2016.
I don't really spend much time in the interest boards, except anime and video games I guess. But I stopped using /v/ years ago too.

I genuinely cannot imagine being retarded enough to buy a digital Leica, or one of their newer analog models.
It's well known that the newer cameras do not stack up at all compared to the ones built in the 60s to 80s.
And with digital cameras, once those electronic components fail and the spare parts dry up it's over, no one will ever be able to repair your brick.
If you want a Leica get an M3, M2 or M4. M6 is overhyped, has a light meter which will one day fail, and the top plate is guaranteed to eventually start corroding.

You don't need an external lightmeter all the time if you learn sunny 16., plus I mentioned other issues with the M6 such as the corroding zinc top plate.
It's not a bad camera at all, and yes all of the potential issues can be mitigated and/or ignored, but I think it's still one of the worst value M cameras.
A great condition M4 costs maybe 1500$-1800$, meanwhile an equivalent M6 can be up to and above 3k. That's potentially another grand or more for a light meter.

I think if you're going to spend upwards of 5k on a camera body it should last a lifetime. My problem isn't with digital Leicas failing, it's that they are priced as if they are still these flawlessly engineered mechanical devices which are built to last.
Leica lives on the laurels of its analog years, not on the merit of their current digital cameras.
