I was raised by single mom. My mom tried I know she did but she is a woman. I learned nothing useful, I modeled myself after her when I was child which meant I had to start all over by learning how to be a man and not a woman. The whole women are equal to men I realized is not true and dont get me started on how much of an economic disadvantage that is. I didnt have a male figure that would give me advice or guide me. Instead I got guilt trips, psychotic breakdowns, constant anxiety, getting angry at me if she found out I did something edgy even if I was joking. I've forgiven my mom and kind of just accepted that it was what it was but my childhood wasn't good. Ironically, my relationship with my mom improved a lot in my 20s when I stopped expecting things from her. I started letting her bitch and moan to me about work or whatever for an hour or so every so often and just never talked about my own life beyond shallow superficial shit and never talked about masculine stuff like politics or business or whatever.
