I did see some Chinese apartment tours though and it doesn't really seem bad, lots of modern and decently sized apartments in China. What most westerners get wrong about China is blaming everything on the CCP, the true oppression is Chinese work and family culture which would be the same regardless of politics. And at work you must be subservient to your bosses at all times, if they ask you to work unpaid overtime you do it, and they pretty much all do. This even extends to doing personal favours for your bosses outside of work hours, and you are supposed to act grateful for that because your boss trusts you enough to ask your help. No one actually wants to, but they have to act like it.

You're still paying a mortgage on the leasehold and you can't get another builder to actually build the house for you. Actually Chinese banks issue a lot of USD denominated bonds, most of Asia does. Export economy and all that. They're called fairly stereotypical shit from each country, China's is called Kung Fu bonds.

So the actual construction industry in China has been 'saved', but it's required banks to take on more risk and there's little feasible way to reestablish the developer and junk bond frenzy they used to have which drove foreign investment into their market. Which will just mean that the construction industry will need to retract or be propped up by government works.
