I grew up in a cult (JW) that thought the only way Jews could survive the apocalypse was dropping the 'e' (becoming JWs) because they lost the covenant or something. Evangelicals are the ones who think the Jews are the key to surviving the apocalypse, that supporting them is their golden ticket. But there are also denominations that support Israel because it needs to be there to be destroyed which ushers in the apocalypse. I thought the latter view was much more widespread; that the evangelicals were supporting Israel cynically for the same reason. No such luck.

the disciples of Jesus understood who Jesus was, and they understood it from scripture.

That title Jesus used all the time "the son of man" it is a reference to Daniel 7, in which the Ancient of Days (God the Father) gives the son of man (God the Son) an everlasting kingdom.

God wouldn't give an everlasting kingdom to just anyone, it's His kingdom. The only thing that makes sense is.. the son of man is also God. 2 people who are both God.
