Secondly vast majority of christian Europeans wars against nonchristians was against literal spearchucking savages in Africa, South America, Indonesia etc. this isn't exactly impressive to beat groups that are technologically 200 thousand years behind you.

I mean you do realize for the first half a thousand years of "christian history" of early medieval Europe, the populations were fully pagan still it was just the kings and their knights who were converted? And they just slowly indoctrinated their own people over many centuries.

And it was Iberia, still majority pagan that committed the reconquista and freed Iberia from muslim rule, creating the kingdom of Spain. Only the noble families of Iberia were christian.
