>>508684703 (OP)I took a history class on cultures around the globe. When we got to India, we watched a documentary where there was an interview with a restaurant owner: this guy openly admitted to ripping off and overcharging customers, lying about shortages, and intentionally serving wrong orders (and that's just what I remember). Said "that's just how India is, that's how business with Indians is", like it was funny, that lying and cheating your customers was the norm.
Then we watched a movie in English class - "Slumdog Millionaire" - like this great introduction to this great, foreign culture. The protagonists spend a non-zero percent of the runtime covered head-to-toe in feces and ripping off tourists.
It's funny how the globohomo initiative to enlighten us to all of these great unga-bunga shithole countries does the complete opposite. It was the same when I was learning about Africa and Arabia.
