He went out of his way to bully his potential allies in france. If he didn't, the brits would have sued for peace. Especially if he massacred them at Dunkirk. (irl. the vote failed by 4 in parliament - mostly because of how unfair german peace with france was) If France wasn't occupied, and the germans just installed an nationalist government, took back reparations and went home, britain sinking the french fleet would look like the worst kind of betrayal too. The US wouldn't have a cause to enter the war, and the whole world would view the germans very differently. After all, taking back polish territory they lost after versallies has more justification than russia taking crimea. Hitler had no plan for most peoples he conquered. Other than being mean to them. If he instead made any sort of real moral proposition to his potential allies, he wouldn't seem like a existential threat, and all Europe except england would unironically support him in 1941

He did make many mistakes, that is indeed the nature of (civilized) man and his march against a cruel world in pursuit of goal so grand and great beyond his limited existence.
He was however a man who's mistakes are dim and pointlike compared to his triumphs and convictions which are perhaps the only fires left that will guide us in these pitch black days. We cannot snuff away the light because a few embers burn our grip.

Even to critique him at this critical moment, when his vision is such an antidote to the poison we swim in; is to seed doubt in the panacaea he provided and subsequently perished for.
Leave the critique, for now, for when we can afford to be historians, philosophers, bickering political scientists and moralists; now we must be soldiers and workers and leaders.
He is the teacher, and through his victory and his fall he has lived on; he merely lost a battle in a centuries-long war.

A couple of Hitlers fuck ups:
-he didn’t like the StG 44, which was the first “assault rifle”. He preferred longer, heavier, high powered bolt action rifles. Thankfully his generals went behind his back and kept production of the 44 alive.
- Continuing the trend of bigger and heavier, he wanted new tanks to be that way but that was not congruent to the blitz type of army operations they were conducting. The bigger heavier vehicles bogged down in the mud and became an anchor around the mobile mech units.
- Hitler believed in bombers over fighters. Had he used the Me262 as a fighter instead of a bomber it may have changed the war. Same for the Battle of Britain if he had produced more fighters in general.
- And obviously the big mistake of going after Russia in the winter. Big fail.

Had Hitler not have been in such a hurry he may have won. He should have taken Poland, waited a few years for everyone to get used to the new normal, and then invade the next country, wait, and so on…in a decade or two he could have controlled all of Europe.
He was too stuck in the WW1 techniques and concepts of weapons.

How could the Me262 change the war? All their experimental aircraft and wonder weapons were nothing but a wasted effort for history channel documentaries. All their top performing equipment was your middle of the road stuff. If they just focused on mass producing mid equipment in larger quantity maybe that would make a difference but not really. They can never out produce the united states in any wargame scenario.

Because the Me262 outperformed all other fighters at the time. Yes it had limitations but those could have possibly overcome had development been prioritized. Every time a Luftwaffe general told him to make it a fighter he denied that. He wanted the jet to be a bomber that could strike London etc.

They lacked oil which they failed secure in 42 in the Caucasus. They were fucked. The kriegsmarine cannot make a difference with more surface ships. You can't build a navy in the 30s to make a difference. Carriers do them no good. They are not in the pacific nor are they Britain with an ocean empire. They have no carrier experience.
