I'm fascinated by the GATE program(s) because I was in what I think is a version of it since 3rd grade as well, but I don't remember anything about it for the most part. I remember doing certain projects like trying to figure out how the pyramids were built by using popsicle sticks and bricks, building a miniature 'car' (mine used a large fan as propulsion), a mock trial, a science project, two major multi-school events: 1. Was a mock UN type scenario where groups were assigned countries (mine was China) and 2. Different groups were tasked with developing the layout for a Mars habitat with blown up plastic enclosures and we were given scenarios to challenge us, like one was "there is a storm coming, you are far from home base and there aren't enough seats in your transport for everyone, who do you leave behind?" I rebelled in HS and stopped giving a shit so I didn't give any time or attention to schoolwork.
