I am sort of paranoid about ticks but despite taking walks through the nature preserve with a dog I haven't gotten a tick since I was a child. Just don't walk though high grass or underbrush and occasionally check if there are bugs on your legs.

I used to spend entire summers in the countryside, traversing fields and forests as a kid. Never caught a single tick. Dogs sometimes had those though.
This summer I've been visiting the same summer house a lot after a long break and the area is crawling with ticks. Any time I pass through a forest or even stray from a walkway onto uncut grass I have to inspect myself afterwards because quite often there's a tick slowly making its way up. Neighborhood cats are like covered with ticks.

Conversely, the other summer place, 50ish km away has none. Weird. Lots of huge dark orange slugs though. These weren't there a few years ago either.

It's an acquired immune response so if their samples tend to be skewed towards city fags becuase of population density and convenience of proximity towards universities and centers where research is carried out without having a group more frequently exposed your data isn't actually going to be a good representative sample. No one I knew growing up ever worried about ticks beyond checking and pulling them off at the end of the day and that's still the case today. Let me say this as someone who was afraid of creating cool crystals for the longest time when trying to figure out wtf was causing my skin condition. You need to drink something like more than 5 liters of the pure concentration to die from it. Under normal uses, the directions instruct you to dilute the mix to ~35 PPM. I have drank up to concentrations of ~600 ppm in solution. The worst I experienced was a small amount of diarrhea at the very start, cut my dosage by half and worked back up with no issue. The main problem when it comes to Chlorine Dioxide is just how fucking nasty is smells and tastes at higher concentrations. Like drinking pool water. I did the week long protocol and all I got out of it was some stinky farts. I cant tell you from personal experience if it actually cures anything, but I can tell you it wont kill you unless you decide to chug gallons of the pure concentration which is 3000 ppm. The way it works is that ClO2 has an extra oxygen atom which binds to all the nasty shit in your body which like to exist at an negative charge, the extra oxygen atom rapes them to death. All the good shit in your body likes to be positively charged, so it does not effect them. I just use it as a disinfectant in a spray bottle now because its not toxic.
