The various books of the bible weren't compiled together into a single volume until later, because producing even one book cost an immense amount of time and money back then.
Emperor Constantine commissioned the production of 50 full Bibles written in Greek in 331AD, which would have been a monumental and extremely expensive task, but a few copies survive today.
