No, the AAA industry is dying. They just finally learned about good sales sites and that "steam sales" are insane ripoffs compared to normal prices on every steam competitor (including ones you can still use the key on steam) - even the legitimate ones.

Even assuming there’s been no dip in quality nor rise in price, I think all entertainment industries are facing the same dilemma. The present faces more difficult an uphill battle with the past than ever before because the past is more accessible than ever before. What used to limited by what you could physically get can now all be done with the click of a button and bam, you’ve got decades worth of content instantly at your fingertips. And the past never stops growing, there’s now enough classics to last you a lifetime which also makes harder and harder to get truly innovative. I don’t need to actively hate and reject the present to avoid it, I simply don’t think about it. I can now dive into my personal rabbit hole and never crawl out. This year could spit out nonstop 10/10s and I wouldn’t notice among my already monstrous backlog.

And that’s not even getting into the proliferation of games with various feedback loops to keep you as engaged as long as possible before moving onto something else, like online multiplayer or roguelites.

Pay $60 - $100 for a game. It's full of woke BS. Then they want you to buy a battle/season pass. Then buy various DLC's. The game is still really in beta as it's full of bugs and glitches that require multi GB updates every few days. Online play is full of hackers and cheaters. And on top of all that, the games are made to look pretty while the gameplay mostly sucks. If you're on console, add a montly cost to play online.

The last AAA game I enjoyed and that actually impressed me was MGS5. It has many flaws but it still had some of that old games spark of excellence in it.
