That is your soul fighting what feels good vs what is the right thing to do.
We all have these urges controlling them takes great will power. Most people don't want to do this because it does hurt inside to do the right thing and they give in to every temptation they can afford.
Even I don't follow my own advice but at least I don't lie to myself and tell myself what I am doing is the right thing.

I don't even know what "liberal" and "conservative" even mean anymore. They are just epithets used to mindlessly divide people

They have spent the last 30 years demonizing you. The things they use for PR are not their principles; they are their sales pitch. Don't listen to what people claim they believe in watch what they do. The democrats claim they care about workers' rights, and have done nothing to advance that in over 40 years. They claim they care about the downtrodden, but they have done everything they can to make it worse for the poor for 40 years. The claim they care about minority groups, but have been actively killing them since their party was founded. The Democrats have good messaging, but their message is a lie.

Liberal values can often tend to make a person angry. Anger can often be a response to having conflicting values foisted upon oneself.

I guess I mean the right wing authoritarian kind of guy going on about how we have to RETVRN at all costs is not really who I am but I always side with them because the other side, which is realistically the only other side in America, is just complete revolting in every way. Conceptually I would like to be more progressive but what that seems to mean here is a political movement that hates white men. I am not racist. I am probably gay. I am not really bothered by modern women. I really just don't give a shit about all of the culture shit beyond the fact that if I were to support any left leaning cause, then it would inevitably lead to me being muzzled like a dog, so I can't be the person I really am in terms of wanting better for everyone. I have to be selfishly minded because the progressive motherfuckers out there are nothing but people of decay in reality.

To add a bit more to this, it seems to me to be a white male and a democrat in modern america requires at least some amount of self-hatred. There is no way around that as far as I can tell. I simply refuse to engage in that performative guilt. I will not be expected to do that.
