>>509556419 (OP)Like 20 years ago I thought I’d be the next banksy and I handmade a bunch of political themed stencils. I didn’t know anyone else who graffitied, I was a white kid from the suburbs, so I went out and tagged a few local grocery stores and movie theaters. I got caught only once and it was by a bunch of other white kids and I remember them shaking my hand and praising me but it was in this like ‘yeah dude’, “being a nigger is fucking awesome” and I immediately stopped. Some of it stayed up for years before getting sandblasted. There’s a difference between making art, or a statement and just tagging to tag, as in writing a word or a name everyfucking where. There were several taggers in my old college town who were caught and fined for so many thousands of dollars worth of cover ups and town had a reward for their capture but they were easy to catch because they wrote their name literally thousands of times everywhere, all over in a small town, it quickly started to piss people off
