On the contrary, I'm more surprised that they didn't have fruit sandwiches overseas. I mean, what have you guys been doing with bread as your staple food?

Fruit sandwiches are supposed to be filled with whipped topping. I demand it be made again.

Fruit sandwiches are a classic Japanese thing.

Japanese one looks better.
There are more than twice as much fruit in Japan.

Fruit sandwiches are a Japanese tradition

Korea will say, “Strawberry sandwiches originated in our country” again.

Oh no. England has gone gastronomical.

I'm glad to hear you call it a Japanese strawberry sandwich! In Korea, they will say it originated in their country.

Combined with the fact that Japan won this year's World Confectionary Competition for the second year in a row, it seems that Japanese confectionaries are attracting worldwide attention.

After the egg sandwich, the fruit sandwich was exposed. The last stronghold, the pork cutlet sandwich

It seems odd to me because in the UK thry only think of sandwiches as salty flavored.

I know Japanese bread is known as fluffy and chewy in the world, but what about British bread? It looks a little dry to me.

I mean, the British, I didn't know they were interested in food.

Sooner or later, France or Korea will claim the origin. No, France will claim the right and interest. Because they did it before.

The fish and chips are not good either, seriously, HUB in Japan is better.

I don't think there is any cream in the world as good as Japanese cream, and I am sure that in Japan you would be bowled over!

England, you made a big deal out of the strawberry variety patent issue with Korean farmers before.
You're very particular about berries.

There are also ears and that hard-looking bread doesn't fit. I think foreigners really don't have the ability to understand the true essence

That Japan's food culture is decades ahead of the rest of the world, and that foreign food culture has been stagnant for a long time.

That said, one of my favourites growing up was peanut butter with apple slices and cinnamon.

No shit.
Those white strawberries need to be totally micromanaged so that the plant gets sunlight but ABSOLUTE NONE hits the fruit itself.
Shit like that is labour intensive. When you look at what goes into it, that softball sized strawberry being sold for 20 bucks makes sense.

Jam sandwiches have been a staple for decades too, the main difference is the addition of cream really.

If you want some cultural exchange, try gooseberry jam with this type of sandwich, it's a free money idea for you.

Only because 99% of people have never eaten at a German or Austrian restaurant. Don't get me wrong, I love Italian and French cuisine but Germany just can't be beat. Asian cuisine, I'm in the fence as most Asian restaurants in the US are Chinese, and I hate Chinese food, I like sushi but that's not enough for a fair judgement of Japanese cuisine. Speaking of which, no matter how many generations they have been here, the Chinese are the absolute WORST drivers. Japanese? Cambodian's? Koreans? Not a problem.

comments:

I lived in England for 10 years. I suffered from the food. They don't season their food at all, so I think it tastes bad to Japanese with discerning palates. If it's not only tasteless, it's also expensive, so you lose interest in eating it even more. I had fish and chips as a safe bet, but since the fish was not seasoned, I think it would have been disqualified in Japan. But I don't think the British are so proud that they would never want to think that their own food tastes bad

I've never been to England, but Australia is seriously bad too

It may be problematic to say this, but I suspect that many ethnic groups are taste-deaf
I think Americans can only taste ketchup and mustard. There are many reasons for this, but
basically, I think Anglo don't care about taste

I used to be transferred from London to Barcelona and I realized that the weather and the food affect my mentality

It would have been nice to have found a necessary protein supplement in fish.
Britain is also an island nation, and if the aristocracy had embraced a fish diet, the economy and food culture would have been more developed
On the other hand, we are grateful to our ancestors who devoted all their thought to how to catch and eat fish, seaweed, and seafood.
Kelp, wafu, mekabu, and mozuku are all eaten normally, and we Japanese have amazing digestive enzymes!

I heard that if you ask for the best restaurant in London, they will refer you to Chinatown

I lived in England. The difference between Japan and England really comes out in McDonald's and so-called "convenience store" sandwiches. McDonald's in England is very bad. The bread of convenience sandwiches is also dry
Cheap food tastes as bad as the price in uk. Japan, where you can eat cheap but amazing tasty food, is an exception to this rule

A variety of dishes as if they appeared in a gag cartoon

I live in England. I try not to be adventurous because it's expensive, tasteless, scarce, the menu is only written, and it's a triple punch. McDonald's patties and nuggets are stinky, hard, and bewilderingly bad. The vegetables I buy at the supermarket and cook at home are of poor quality. Is it a bad variety? They sell sprouted vegetables, damaged ones, expired ones, and broken eggs without a care. Chicken, pork, and beef are dry, smelly, and hard. They don't sell slices. They don't taste good. The only things that taste good are ham and lamb. You can't expect it to be as good as in Japanese supermarkets. When they are hungry and can only eat a little food, they satisfy their hunger by eating ice cream, cookies, chocolates, so-called sugar. So they complete their hunger with palatable sugar. It's sold as if it's good enough to eat, without considering the feelings of the eater. The way they think is also poor. Someone once said that winning the war was ruining England. I agree

When I traveled to Australia a long time ago, one day I visited a ranch and was served a steak grilled on the spot for lunch. Many Japanese tourists who were happy with the steak initially left it uneaten after a few bites. The tour conductor told us, "Aussie beef itself is a tasty meat, but in Australia, because of the tradition of British food culture, the meat is grilled without seasoning, and because there is no way to prevent the juices from seeping out, the umami and flavor is lost, and the result is just a tasteless finish. The meat istelf is not bad," he said in a desperate attempt to explain himself.

Fifty years ago, I went on my honeymoon to a restaurant in London and was disgusted by the mashed spinach that was served as a side. I thought it would have tasted better with salt and pepper and a little butter. The spaghetti restaurants in Rome are also of a very low level compared to those in Japan, and the fritters in Venice were not tasty at all

You niggas are only known for eating raw fish (50% consider that disgusting, the other half thinks it's the best food ever) and eating insects like crickets and scorpions and dipping alive raw octopus into onions sauce. Idk what you expected. Most westerners are not japanophiles and there's like a handful of jap restaurants in all of europe. As a hot twink baker, I absolutely understand the differences between Jap bread and Western Bread. Their bread IS softer, because they do a thing called "Tangzhong". Essentially, you take a little bit of your flour and milk, and heat them together until they turn into a "toothpaste-like consistency. Then you add it to the rest of your bread mixture in your mixer and make it as normal. This gives their breads a "pillowy" texture. It's very pleasant, I have noticed that it helps retain moisture longer too.

In terms of "Sandwiches as salty flavored"... I dunno about Br*ts, but that's not quite how they're viewed here in America. Sandwiches are mainly SAVORY. Which CAN be a bit salty in nature sure, especially so if you use lunch meats. But SAVORY is the opposite of sweet in our brains' interpretation of taste. That's why the most satisfying meals have something savory, then sweet, something spicy, then fatty, etc... With that said, it's no wonder that Brits are going a little crazy about this. It's something that looks familiar to their eyes, but takes their palate in a whole other direction.

I'm gay and retarded.

None of the apples you buy at the store are "normal".
100% of them are grafted.
You take a specific root stock, cut off the top and then take the branches from a variety that tastes good and graft it on.
Some people even graft multiple different varieties onto a single root stock, so their tree grows several kinds of fruit.

food quality standards are not always good when they mean importation of food becomes impossible
that's the situation in japan, they're getting fucked up the ass by the price of rice and many other staples because there's a 600% import tariff
the quality standards are stupid shit like having to use fertilizer from specific japanese manufacturers

High end European (read: white) food is simple because the ingredients are supposed to speak for themselves. You don't want to smother a beef tenderloin in a bunch of spices because that defeats the purpose of expensive beef. Just some salt, pepper, fresh herbs, and butter. Unlike poor thirdies who have to cover their road kill in spiced slop so it doesn't taste rancid

C group DNA is "Mongol-Amerinidian" and you see it only in the Sibero-Ainu or there it is a touch in Kyushu and Korea.

O1 is the Austro-Asian root and is Jomon. Sometimes called "Aboriginal Chinese" who weren't Han.

D1 which you see in Tibet is the Xia dynasty which started around Tuva. They puppeteered the Mongol, Manchu, Bengali and Tibetan cultures. They are the Yayoi high shamans in Korea and Japan.

There's also a very ancient genetic marker in Japan that is in trace elements from Europe to North America but only appears with any significance in Japan.

Xia culture (D1) was created by contact with Afanasievo Yamnaya.
Tocharian nomads followed the Yamnaya and displaced the Xia from China, until some of them integrated with the Shang culture to found the Zhou dynasty.
However, then they race mixed heavily to create the Xiongnu/Huns. A group of these spread into Machuria and race mixed more to create the Turks.
The pure Indo-European element was pushed back to Sogdiana due to this.

Anon, we do have fruit sandwiches here.
I grew up eating them.
You butter bread and put slices of banana and/or orange on it.
You can add powder sugar if you want but it's sweet enough.
Some people put whipped cream on it instead of the butter.
There's different ways of doing it of course.

Honest to God, this whole "wow look at what the Asians are doing, aren't they cool" thing is dysgenic and demoralising as all hell.

The three grand cuisines are French, Chinese and apparently Turkish.
But, Turkish shit doesn't show up enough in the West.
In some ways it does, as Central and East Euro food has Turkish origin like the sausages, cabbage rolls and shit, and there's kebap of course, but Turkey has shit tons of delicious food that you never see.
Syrian, Lebanese etc. food is just variations of Turkish.

listen idiot
japanese can live peacefully with what we have so we dont need to invent things or new food
however, when we are told that something useful is available we make it better then the people who told them
you use japanese technology everyday like blue led, flash drive, compact disk, smartphone, Infrastructure projects from bullet trains, computers, agricultural products
and it was japanese who did the invention by european better, like clothes and shirts and ties
as I said, japanese can live happily with what we have, so we dont need to invent other things
we didint live a barbaric life where we have to fight and do something to win and invade, like you in the west
but when we learn something useful, we make it better many times over and teach it to the person who teach to us
In short, japanese are just more superior then whites
now a days all of high technic products using japanese basic inventions.
and since ancient era japanese were very strong to mathematics

Half the ingredients you use don't come from Japan and were brought there initially by white people. Until Europeans crossed the Atlantic, nobody outside the Americas ever ate any sorts of beans, capsicum, tomatoes, corn, potatoes and all sorts of other fruits/veggies. Your diet would look completely different. Pretending that you're eating a super "traditional" diet is a joke.

in another life, I used to ride a 1976 fuji 10 speed steel bicycle hand made in japan. It was a copy of an Italian design

It has all its original parts except handle bars and front wheel, which I bent in a crash. The frame itself took no damage. It even has the same ball bearings in the bottom bracket from the 1970s, and I only had it cleaned with new grease once in 15 years. Even the chain is original.

I love that bike so much, and am grateful for japanese excellence. I'd much prefer it over the Italian originals. and I will always buy Japanese cars and trucks for the rest of my life. I'm white btw

Japanese and Asian bread is sweet and filled with sugar.
Our bread is made for real food so of course it doesn't work with our salty bread and putting sweet fruits together.
That isn't to say we don't eat Strawberries and cream, we love it, like I said in my previous post it's a tradition for the Tennis to them together and some Pimms.
We go Berry picky in Summer as well, lots of families go out, there are a bunch of places that let you go for free to berry pick or go find wild berries those are always the best but be careful you're not eating the wrong types of berries or you'll get an upset tummy.

Not Italian, but you have to understand their mentality. They’re very jealous and bitter people. Their country suffered major setbacks after getting their asses handed to them in WW2, their nation was in ruins after this and they were extremely poor and poverty fuelled, and so since then they’ve always been in the shadow of the other bigger and more influential western nations, like France, the UK and even their former allies the Germans. Not to mention the increasing influence of America and other nations of the world. Italy just became irrelevant. Even today they have slums in Italy still that are full of extreme poverty.

So after this, all they had left of influence was their food. It was the only thing they had left to be prideful of and so they can’t stand to see other nations take what they see as theirs and change it or make it better. They’re hanging into their last shred of dignity and relevance by playing ignorant, shouting and screaming if someone dares to cook “their” food. Of course the reality being it isn’t their food anymore and that Italian food in Italy has gone backwards, suffering from their years of poverty and that the evolution of their food has continued in much richer nations, America for instance has way better Italian food nowadays than Italy. You can also find better Italian food in France, which is the thing they hate the most. The fact that French food became the dominant force in gastronomy really gets to them. It’s sad, but that’s how it is.

Female social competition involves pretty girls downplaying their status.
Japanese culture, which is very feminine, makes a big deal of this too.

Japanese hot girls go hard into self-deprecation as a sort of own that proves just how hot they are.
>Oh I just totally don't fit in I guess
Is their way of bragging how hot they are.

garam masala is a mixed blend of ground peppercorn, bayleaf, fennelseed, coriander seed, cumin, and then some combination of warm spices of cinnamon nutmeg mace cloves and cumin. none of these are uniquely indian, and in fact half of the spices mentioned are sourced from indonesia. The spice is unironically more british than it is indian.
