Maybe.
It's a matter of subjective taste and it varies from drink to drink. You may try beer and you may not like it, then try rum and you'll love it.
I personally like to drink, mostly its reserved for friend get togethers, workplace events with colleagues or at family reunions.
Outside of that I sometimes also drink a bit alone, like once every 2-3 weeks.
A glass of wine for reading a good book, a little whiskey for playing vidya, that kind of thing.
For western societies, alcohol is an enhancer. It enhances an already good mood to an ever better one.
For far eastern societies -especially japan-, alcohol is an enabler.
It is almost required when you want to actually connect with people because of plausible deniability when you say something that may offend someone else.
That is to say that you drink in moderation as going overboard no longer works as an enhancer or an enabler but just some liquid drug that dampens whatever sad emotion you don't want to feel. As long as you avoid that, you generally don't have to worry about the problems.
