Before you dismiss this as a local issue, remember Brazil is the country with the most catholics in the entire world and latin america is widely known as the stronghold of catholicism. If the largest Catholic population of latin america is gone in a few decades, together with american influence, protestantism will also slowly spread to the rest of the continent and will leave Europe as the last region with a catholic majority, and we all know catholicism is facing a decline in it. The main branch of christianity is on a clock and its just a matter of time.
