My Dad called me and said he'd be home late from work (worked in Manhattan, no where near the towers) and my mom was staying at my grandmother's condo in the Bronx for the night. My girlfriend was panicked and was freaking out. I told her I was leaving and going to work. I worked at a deli. She asked if work was more important than her, to which I got in my car and left her there crying. She followed me to work and sat in the lobby drinking coffees, being annoying and watching footage of the towers until it was time to leave. Her parents worked in the city also so we went back to her house and fucked for a while. Then I left her alone again and went home because my Dad was bitching about not being home yet, it was 1am or so. He wanted to talk about it, I told him I didn't care really. I was 17 when 9/11 happened. Pussy and work were more important than "muh patriotism". I still don't care. Never adversely affected me from the suburban sprawl of the Hudson Valley. Also there were no planes. The footage shown to international audience was different than the one US audiences saw. There was a 17 second delay to the live feeds that allowed them to insert and remove things.
It was just cruise missiles, they overlaid plane imagery on top of them. Many eye witnesses said it sounded like a missile and not like a plane. Many said they saw a missile.

When the towers fell, and especially WTC7, they started calling bullshit on the fires causing the collapse of all three buildings.
One of them had been involved in demoing buildings in China and he said WTC7 was definitely a controlled demo.

Also, since we are talking about this, the whole "jet fuel cant melt steel beams" is ridiculous. Of course it cannot, and also, of course it does not matter.
Some kinds of steel can be destroyed in a hot air fryer (martensitic steels). There is no need to actually melt steel for it to lose its most relevant characteristics. A bit of heat is more than enough.

>>510198840 (OP)I was in the fifth grade, and I didnโt really understand what was happening fully. I did use 9/11 as an excuse to go home tho. I pretended I thought my dad worked in a skyscraper in chicago and was scared he would be killed. None of this was true, and I found every avenue I could to leave school as often as possible. One time I pretended my arm stopped working. I taught myself to vomit so I could leave school. 9/11 was just another good reason to go home and play vidya. A few years later I watched loose change and became a truther, now I sit somewhere in the middle. Not sure if it was Israelis, my government, or some pissed off sand people. Probably a combination of all three. I do think airplanes hit the towers at least
I was 15 and I came home from a school trip to Loughborough to my mum in hysterics because a plane had flown in to a building. I subsequently had an autistic meltdown myself. All the boys, including me, were like "dude explosions! Awesome!". And then our teacher, Mr. Lewis (who was also the football coach) was like "hey dumbasses, there are people in that building". Then we all just shut up.
>>510198840 (OP)Listening to the radio getting ready for work (West Coast). During a local traffic update the announcer mentioned a nationwide ground stop, which was my cue to turn on the TV. That I was shortly after the North Tower was vaporized. Almost as soon as I turned on the TV, I got a call from HR telling me to stay home. I worked in the downtown core of what was then still a decent city.
I went to the hardware store and got some valves for my shower and installed them. Then I spent the rest of the afternoon and evening on the fuckedcompany.com forum and I think a couple of Usenet groups trying to get as much information as I could.

>From what I understand, Dawson's arguments for dismissing WTC7 conspiracy theories include:>He points to the extensive structural damage WTC7 sustained from debris from the nearby towers, which is often overlooked in conspiracy narratives.>He argues that the fires in WTC7 burned uncontrolled for hours, weakening the structure, particularly around Column 79, which initiated the collapse.>He criticizes conspiracy theorists for selectively using footage that makes the collapse appear more symmetrical than it actually was.>He has argued that the logistics of secretly planting explosives in a functioning office building (particularly one that housed government agencies) would be practically impossible.>He often emphasizes applying Occam's Razor - that the simpler explanation of structural failure due to damage and fire requires fewer assumptions than a controlled demolition conspiracy.

My dad was a first responder, and we lived not far from the WTC (just beyond the supposed WTCHP dust "Exposure Zone," thankfully).
We didn't learn he was still alive until that evening.
>>510198840 (OP)yeah, woke up late since i was still on summer break and chilling at moms, dad calls up saying "uh maybe don't go out today ok?" I'm like why? what? he said "turn on the tv" I said "what channel?" he said "any channel" and then was like "uh ok i gotta go, but maybe don't go to work today, they're shutting down all the airliners" and hung up. I turned on the tv and NYC was a giant ball of smoke, i figured some chad had nuked it and was sort of like "wow so cool and holy shit it's happening" and after a while i saw the planes hitting etc, and in that moment i realized that will is the most important thing on planet earth. Anyway the taliban are heros.
Yes, I was watching it on tv in first grade during lunch period. They eventually made us turn it off and watch Scooby-Doo instead.
Yeah I was taking a note to the principal in like 3rd or 4th grade and saw it oncthe screens in the atrium on the way. I was the only kid who had any idea what was going on in the whole school.

I sat down and watched TV with my father who was at home on vacation. Then the other plane struck the tower like maybe 10 minutes since I sat down to watch it.
I can even show you the LAN setup we had that summer playing games.
We played
Starcraft
Age of Empires II: The Conquerors
The Settlers III and IV
Star Trek: Armada
Metal Fatigue
Earth 2150
Red Alert 2
KKND 2
We needed to use IPX for our LAN games since we had no switch but only a cable between the two PCs.

>>510205158>Agree. It was literally a symbol. The world trade centers was our biggest prides and it was in literally everything NYC.I only visited them a few times, but I had never known a city and skyline without them, and I can't describe the shock I everyone felt when the south tower fell.
Never thought it would happen. They seemed so strong and permanent, and had fared so well in the '93 bombing attempt.
Can't find a good pic related, but when you walked right up to the base and looked up, you almost fell over from the sense of vertigo they induced, rising up at a 90 degree angle with no setbacks the full fifteen hundred feet.
>>510198840 (OP)4th grade getting ready for school
I remember being annoyed that school wasn't cancelled for the day
I lived on the opposite side of the country from New York
Yeah, I was at work. The Internet slowed to a crawl and CNN could not be loaded. We all walked across the street to a furniture store that had a TV and that's where I saw the second tower fall. In subsequent days, military jets were visible flying combat air patrols over Boston, where I lived at the time.
My aunt and cousin were in Manhattan on 9/11, made it on foot across the Brooklyn Bridge and then paid hundreds of dollars for a cab to drive them to Boston.
My dad worked for a defense contractor and had a high-level security clearance, and told the rest of us in the family that if he gave the word we were all to stop what we were doing, immediately get in our cars and drive to Cleveland. I can't overstate the degree to which people didn't really understand what was going to come next in those first few days after 9/11...
>>510207818Also, I still have a Diamondback bike jersey that I bought during some kind of swap meet / flea market that I stumbled upon on the mezzanine of one of the towers about a month before 9/11.
>>510207619Maybe this one, but it's not the same as seeing it IRL.
Really wish they had rebuilt them, but bigger and stronger, with more staircases, and not in the footprint of WTC 1 & 2 (reserving that space for the memorial), but adjacent.

>>510207512I mean realistically until 2015 my main culture was German/US. There was no Croatian TV culture. We had like 5 channels and all of them were dogshit.
I speak German, English, Czech, Croatia and Japanese.
I watched German TV via satellite mostly US shows and Japanese anime. Mostly Pro 7, RTL 2 and Sat 1.
I grew up with Star Trek, Star Gate, Babylon 5, Star Wars, Lord of The Rings, and so many other shows I can't count. Action Movies, Comedy Movies and so on.They also had Nickelodeon and SuperRTL had all the Disney stuff.
I also grew up on Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z, Sailor Moon, Ranma 1/2, Doremi, Inuyasha, Shinchan, Conan, Kickers, Arale, Monster Rancher, Hamtaro, Yugioh.
I played so many PC games and they are the main reason I learned English. To play them. I don't remember not speaking German but I do remember not speaking English and calling Bronze age in AoE 1 "Brrzone age" and Storage Pit "StorPit" and calling the Priests "Grandfather in Croatian"
I basically grew up the same way most US kids did in terms of TV shows watched and PC games played.
Have the Bootless NES that I thought was a pretty up to date console way until 1998.
>>510198840 (OP)Yeah I saw my parents in the living room standing up watching TV looking absolutely shocked. I was too young to understand the significance of what I was seeing so I thought it was really fucking boring and I don't remember what I did after that.

>>510202188>If you zoomers want to know when the "good days" ended, many commonly cite 2004 as the last year of those times; however, it truly ended on September 11, 2001.Correct. September 11th put us into a new era. The powers that be miscalculated the Cold War: the USSR disintegrated about a decade earlier than planned. Without the USSR but still tooled for the Cold War, we Americans found ourselves in a strange "gap time" or interregnum of era.
Think of the 1990s as a decade of Summertime. The Gulf War victoey was so lopsided and absolute that it shocked even established guys like GHWB (who incidentalll did not want to go to war at first.) As Americans, we were beyond optimistic. Keep in mind, we were still overwhelmingly White (especially outside of a handful of cities; in fact, we still had White cities like Houston.) While it is true that industry had been shifting towards Asia and we were being sold out since the 1970s, most White people were doing well. (I'm not trying to downplay the social harms from plants/mills shutting down. Indeed, this pain took time to really hit hard- which was just in time for the GWOT. "Your factory town dead, goyim? JOIN THA ARMY AND PROTECT ISR- I mean, fight the terrorists!")
To get a flavor of what the USA was like before Urban Moving Systems blew up the WTC (behind the cloak of their shidhead Moslem jeet patsy hijakers), watch the 1996 film Independence Day.
9/11 ended that era of optimism and euphoria. And then, September 2008 was the firm confirmation of jewish bank tyranny.

Absolutely using N. American English and slang with a Polish flag, pretending he knows nothing about our people in Poland, even going so far as to say I am mentally ill for thinking that...
I call bullshit.
>>510199062I was on AA Flight 175. When I could tell we were about to hit that building, I turned 360 degrees and walked away.
>>510198840 (OP)i was a freshman in highschool. i skipped school that day, and went to a huge piece of land near my house and walked around in the woods all day long. i ended up walking to the school and sneaking in just before the final bell rang so i could catch a ride to a friend's house and hang out. i didnt learn what happened until about 3:30 that day.

I distinctly remember being in 2nd grade and our teacher telling us what happened in a qrd during second period, then telling us we're all going home early that morning, she then turned on the classroom TV to show us the news. After maybe 30 minutes of that, we all then got sent home on school buses.
I remember later that day talking to my Dad and asking if this was the worst thing to ever happen to America, and he wasn't sure how to respond.
I know never forget is a meme but I really will never forget that morning. I've forgotten so much of my childhood and that still sticks out to me vividly.
>>510198840 (OP)driving to school in 5th grade and hearing about it in the radio (I'm a burger visiting bongistan rn).
Hard agree with the anons saying that everything changed on 9/11. There was a hysterical frenzy of muh patriotism that led to the PATRIOT act (which signed away our rights) and two wars (for oil, opium, and halliburton). We burned thru our surplus, and then the 2008 recession finished things off.

I was in a morning class in college when the first plane hit and found out about it in the cafe where they were playing the news, which at the time reported it as likely being a cessna/small plane. I was grabbing a coffee to drink at work when a friend from highschool approached and asked for a ride home, which was less then 5 minutes from the school and my job at the time. By the time I got to my job the second plane had hit, the radio was turned up high and no one was doing any work.

The night before I unlocked Super Sonic in Sonic R on PC. I really wanted a reason not to go to school or come home early.
Boy did I get it.
Mom left work and picked up my old sister from middle school. Then she picked me up from school. She started walking really, really fast, which was very weird because she's really fat.
I asked whats going on and said "America is under attack!"
I said wut and she screames "WE'RE GOING TO WAR!!!!!"
Then she started crying and freaking out because at the time ine of my cousins was in the Marines.
We came home just before or just after both towers fell.
The meme "turn on tv, it doesn't matter what channel" is true. Unless it was a channel for children like Cartoon Network, it was in EVERY channel.

That does not happen in Central Europe.

I remember the outdoor staircase I was walking down on campus, returning home from an early class. Stopped by the dining hall for breakfast and saw the live coverage on the wall-mounted TVs.
