Japan simply industrialized decades before China, experienced their boom, and is now experiencing their bust. The west is in the same phase but mass imported immigrants to "solve" their problem. China is where Japan and the west were 60 years ago, their population growth is dwindling. They will either contract like Japan or they'll mass import immigrants like the west.

But Russia? Russia repaid all of their USSR debt, as far the global economy is concerned they're above board. China is still classed as a 'developing' country so their entire model is based around growth and not much else.

This is a chart of Japanese GDP of Yen base.
We are living with Yen, not Dollar.
This chart matchs with real feeling of economic situation.
