They tried to merge a medium, a heavy, a light tank, an assault gun, a tank destroyer all into one and guess what it does not work. The army needs multiple designs, they need a fast, heavily armored tank with a small fire support gun for assaults, they need turret less tank destroyers and assault guns to offer support from the back, they need light tanks for scouting. And these need to be all different designs. Not one that can do all and in the it is useless. What need does the infantry have of a tank with a 120 mm gun. They need something that can lead the assault, suppress enemy infantry and be able to take some hits and keep going. A 75 mm gun is more the enough for this.

Challenger? Has ammo storage in hull. Leopard 2? Also has ammo storage in hull, although it rarely looses its turret.
Now of course you have the (sensible) option to not put ammo into those storage bins, which dramatically reduces the risk of the tank detonating, and Russian tanks do not have that luxury because of the carousal autoloader, but overall it's a fairly minor issue besides the crew getting killd - which is likely anyway if the tank gets penetrated by tank or missile fire however.

This entire "offensivly breach minefields" didn't work for hohols and I am not sure it ever really worked well for anybody. On an equal battlfield this would inevitable lead to massive casualties simply because the mine field is a ranged kill-zone and slows down your advance. Those mine-field breaching vehicles are in effect untested since in any middling conflict theey get knocked out by the dozens.
tl;dr mines cannot be cleared under combat conditions without dying in the process; it's more of a barrier than a weapon, especially since modern mines aren't stupid. Some mines are programmed to not detonate the first 1-2 times they are triggered.

That's a BTR or Stryker. The issues with wheels is that they are weak and can't handle the amount of armor you need.

It didn't work for the hohols because the plan was made my American and German planners that literally do not understand mine fields. The list of issues with the great spring counterhruk is bigger than my dick and they all point to not only incompetence, but complete delusion when it comes to understanding military technology and methodology. NATO officer incompetence is extreme.
Breaching mine fields works out for the Russians every day. As I wrote, the proper way to do this takes a month or two. In case you wondered why the Russian advance is so slow - that's why.

The biggest problem with them IMO is that they seem to be completely ad-hoc creations made by field workshops in ones or twos and then hitting the field in ones or twos. That recent one that supposedly took 60 FPV drones to disable was impressive but completely useless by itself, if they were coordinated at a higher level and deployed in numbers then they'd be a threat. One vehicle taking 60 drones to knock out then it's back to business as usual is a nuisance, a dozen of them showing up in the same attack is a problem.
