I hate to break it to you but Mars is about 100 years off in the future. most people posting on pol today will be dead before a man walks on the red planet.


NASA can not even operate a moon base as a proof of concept for a Mars mission. instead of a moon base they are building a space station the lunar gateway that will itself take 20 years to build. a moon base therefore is 20 years off at a minimum and a moon base as a proof of concept will need to operate for at least that long 20 years for Mars astronauts to survive the minimum 2 years there before they can return. so were talking 2065 at the earliest but realistically Mars is something for people not even born yet to work out in the 2100s

No, NASA did not went on a 3 day journey across the Van Allen Belt (which no other manned missions dared to cross besides Apollos) and went back in 1969.
They just made it up because Kennedy said that they would do it by the end of the decade.
