My dad's friend, let's call him Jim, was walking home from his brother's house one evening and a screeching psycho came running out of her house (he heard the screeching behind the door of her house, and she opened it and came running outside, still screeching) and ran toward him. Jim thinks clearly she needs help so he waits for her to arrive and asks "whats wrong?" Just as he utters "what's..." she slams into him, nearly kncocking him over, and screaming "he tried to rape me." A big scene unfolds, with neighbors coming out of their houses, the police show up super fast, and before he can even state his case, Jim is handcuffed and thrown in the back of a police cruiser. He spends the night in jail and gets bailed out the next morning. Jim then spends nearly two years fighting the allegation in court. He loses his job, his apartment, and gets kicked out of the state school he was attending because of it. He has to sell his fucking car just to pay the legal and court fees, having to rely on his brother for a place to stay and a car to use whenever possible. He is finally found not guilty and nothing ever happens to the woman, of course. Jim eventually gets back into college, actually getting a PhD in mathematics and is now a professor. No apology from her or the police or the courts or the college or his workplace for kicking him out. It's so bizarre and sounds insane that many people don't even believe it's real. But it can happen to anyone, anywhere because we live in a gynocentric society. It's harder nowadays due to many cameras being in residential neighborhoods, but still. what if you're out for a hike...? or the cameras weren't working...
