Vance is the clear frontrunner to be the GOP nominee. The only way he's not is if he doesn't want to run honestly. And I'd bet Vance would win against any of the dems right now.

I don't think you understand how these odds work. Obviously Vance is the favourite individual candidate to become president, because Vice-presidents are always primary candidates to become party nominees (and any nominee has close to 50/50 of being elected), whereas the democrat nominee could be a whole bunch of people, with a number of slight favourites but no obvious favourite

Everyone knows that Texas Democrats are going to cave and Abbott and the Texas Republicans are going to do exactly what Trump demanded of them.
Even with the shift in those five seats, that 1.7 percent represents the totality of how much betters think it has a possibility to affect the outcome of the majority.
You don't know what you're talking about.

Vance went up by 1.1% this week too. It clear hasn't impacted the odds at all.
>>512734729
the top 5 dems don't even add up to Vance. "Other" is 33% because of the mass amount of random people in the odds they didn't bother listing.

Yeah, it looks bad. Not sure who the dems could nominate these days. It'd have to be a masculine looking man, with a "tough" demeanor. I think the party is in a situation similar to the 1990's where they had to nominate someone who was a "conservative passing" liberal (i.e. Bill Clinton). Maybe Andy Beshear?

I really don't want to nominate another woman, but I do think Whitmer would be a good candidate. Harris was fine, but she had 2 big issues. 1.) She had to run on someone else's record (Biden). 2.) She was only given about 3 months to campaign.

And now you're comparing statistical noise for an election three years out, where no one from either party has declared their intention to run, to an election happening in a year where 90 percent of the seats are already effectively decided.

He will likely be the Republican nominee. He has a very solid chance at the presidency barring any /happenings/. He is good at talking shit, but not in Trump's ad hominem style. He is right to the point and doesn't talk in circles. This is why leftist Europeans immediately started spamming the swollen, purple vance edits after he straight up told european politicians to stop being petty tyrants policing speech and sucking immigrant dick. The purple vance edits also demonstrate something important: Leftist narratives are weak and flaccid. There is no intellectual depth to current leftists narratives. As such, there was no pun, no double entendre, no deeper substance to the vance edit spam. I doubt anyone will actually respond to this post in good faith. I don't know why I even bother on this board.

Unfortunately, that means if a Democrat does win in 2028 they can undo all of it the first day they're in office.
That's the problem with governance by executive fiat, and why it's shocking that a president with as much sway over his party as Trump has been totally ineffective at bringing Congress to heel to get their agenda passed through legislation.

No real baggage, military career, married with kids, getting to piggy-back off Trumps 2nd term
No fucking shit he's going to run with it in 2028
Unless Trump absolutely shits the bed, the Dems will have a massive uphill battle. Their big issue is they keep trying to keep the far-left on their side while simultaneously trying to get the middle-voters. This shit won't work if you pick a Newson or AOC, their names are SYNOMOUS with far-left policies the country hates (there's a reason most states hate Cali-expats)

maybe if they slashed the fuck out of rates, sure. But no fed is doing much beyond a few 25-50bp per quarter.
Actual mass deportations and gutting visa programs would help more, but so far Trumps focus is kabuki theater photo ops and "owning da libs" with fake enforcement.

Those are all fair points and I don't disagree. But it's been 7 months since inauguration. There's still 3 years to improve things. I think there is going to be some short term (next year or so) pain and volatility but I'd be surprised if things aren't better in year 3. Especially if the ICE ramp up and immigration measures actually take place.

The Fed cutting interest rates is a bit of a wildcard and could send the markets into a huge bull run but I worry about inflation then.

No one voted for Vance just like no one voted for Pence. They voted for Trump. Vance is not like Trump. It's not just about views it's about being memorable and having the heart of America.

Also, the world is much more polarized. I imagine from here on out every four years the party in charge will trade presidency. You will never see a party rule for two terms ever again.
