I've read some horror stories from parents and siblings of disabled children and it's genuinely sad.
The siblings are unhappy because they're overlooked and don't get their emotional needs met. They're just another caregiver for the disabled child.
The parents have to focus all their energy and resources on a child who'll never grow up properly. They won't see it hit the usual milestones of life. They won't see it have children. Their bloodline likely extinguished
One particular case that stuck with me was a mother caring for severely retarded kid who was mentally a 1yo but physically above average.
By fifteen he was a strong young man, but constantly in need of supervision, constant violent emotional fits, the mother was often getting punched in the face while trying to change his diapers. She had to dedicate every second of her life to taking care of that kid. She had to be unemployed because of this and the care was expensive
There was also the option of putting him on medication, which basically made him a vegetable.
What's the point of letting kids like this get born? They'll never contribute anything to society. They'll be a drain on their family and society. They'll make life miserable for their family. And they'll never be able to even experience life like a normal person

I try to imagine myself being in that situation. And it certainly wouldn't be an easy decision for me. It would still pain me greatly to decide to kill my child.
But I just want to have a normal family. Provide my kids with a good childhood and an even better future, see them succeed and have kids of their own. I volunteer regularly with special needs kids to adult sports. There is a big difference between a normal special person and a human potato. I don't know anything about pregnancy so I cannot say if you can tell in the womb if you are going to have a functional or semi functional special needs kid or a zonk like your image. I will say a zonk should be put out of their misery but regular special needs people are people. Even the ones who can't speak can have fun and show various emotions and deserve every chance to life as everyone else. To me there are three protected classes in the world, children, real invalids, and the special needs. No one else. No nogs leeching off the system ect. Even though these protected classes should be handled by charity mostly, if charity isn't enough, that's when the state steps in.

They can often work, a lot of the ones I work with do, they just need some assistance. Better than the worthless leeches on society. The thing I hate the most is the thought that they won't have support once their parents pass. They can easily be taken advantage of and need help finding work, or just making their way in life with things as simple as budgeting.

Never the less, even those who are semi potatoes are human. More human than a majority of people whom I despise. One girl I work with doesn't really speak, she can respond to a few things but isn't 100% sure of what she is responding to other than things she regularly encounters, with a yes or a no, or a hello. But mostly moans and says "Yeah" really loud. She probably will never work, but she can hit the ball, some times do rallies, and seeing her smile when I praise her during drills or say hello makes me feel some hope for humanity in a world that is on fire. And I know for a fact she is having some fun.

What I'm completely certain about are the cases where the kid has some painful disiease that slowly kills them and the kid is a potato. That also reminds me of one case I saw a few years ago. The parents were doing a fundraiser for their disabled child who had some horrible genetic disease, they needed hundreds of thousands of dollars to just keep him barely alive and the kid was guaranteed to not live past 12. The kid was severely retarded and in pain most of the time. Unable to even move. Keeping such a kid alive is just cruel. This is legitimate nightmare fuel.

In Finland, law mandates that every child goes to school. No exceptions. In my elementary school, we had an extremely retarded student take part in the same classes as everyone else. The municipality had to hire a caretaker specifically for her, and she'd take her to school, spend all day with her, and then drive her back home. One of my coworkers in my first full time job had a disabled kid with some chromosome deletion syndrome. By far one of the nicest guys I ever worked with. But his son was useless, destructive, and a burden. At some point, his now-teenaged son had assaulted so many medical staff that nobody was willing to care for him. Coworker took him out to a park, slit his throat, then killed himself by nail-gunning himself in the head until he died.

I'm not going to blame him for why I don't have kids, but after it happened, the topic of kids with my wife triggered the fuck out of me.
