The Mexican Legislative Assembly Palace Attack began around 5pm on October 10th, 2001 when a pair of armed Israelis, Saar Noam Ben Zvi and Salvador Gersson Smeck both carrying fake Pakistani passports were arrested in the Mexican Legislative assembly with large amounts of ammunition, multiple firearms, and hundreds of lbs of explosives. The attack was widely (but briefly) reported on Mexican TV and in local and national newspapers. It was reported by Pravda a Russian state funded Propaganda outlet similar to Voice of America on 13 October 2001 but appears to have been subject to a news blackout by Western media.

The Israelis were eventually released after enormous pressure from the Israeli Embassy
Here it is explained on October 15th, 2001 in a Mexican news paper:

What went one during those high levels meetings no ones knows, but many in Mexico are in disbelief at their release.

The only archives that still exist are Mexican news media archives as it was widely reported on in Mexican news at least for a few days before it to suddenly disappeared from their media.

Why would Mexico release them under any conditions unless they were already infiltrated. This is an act of war, and those agents are irregular belligerents under a false flag. They should have been executed without trial. Releasing them is out of the question, and the only rational response to an attempted decapitation strike is to put all of your gdp into acquiring nukes and glassing the enemy country in response.

Israel also has a history of carrying out terrorist attacks and planning terrorist attacks, even against its "allies", so this isn't too outlandish to believe.
