This is complete bullshit. Before WW1 Russia was considered one of the Great Powers, maybe second only to Britain.

While France and Germany were more industrialised, Russia's manpower and natural resources were so vast it was thought that in any confrontation they would eventually win out. All of Germany's war plans assumed that the real war would be in the east, and that they had to knock Russia out of the conflict before they could bring their massive material advantage to bear; if Germany could do that, they could mop up France at their leisure, but if they failed then Russia would inevitably grind them down. And to be honest if the Russian Empire had been just a little more stable politically, that's probably how it would have gone. All Tsar Nicholas had to do was hold on for another year or two and Germany would simply have run out of resources to fight them.

Lenin undermined the Russian war effort to the point that when he came to power, he was forced to cede huge amounts of territory to the Germans. He got lucky that the Entente won the war anyway, because if Germany had been allowed to consolidate its gains it most likely would have come for the rest of Russia ten or fifteen years later. Even so, Russia remained a shadow of its former self through the twenties and thirties; Lenin's economic policies were disastrous and the Red Army was a joke that only won the Civil War because all the White commanders were completely insane.

It was only after WW2 that Russia regained its former influence in Eastern Europe and became a world power again, and that was thanks to Stalin, not Lenin.
