Pagan means non-Roman or foreign, so stop calling Romans pagan. Barely anyone was worshipping the gods of the Greek/Roman pantheon, Christian myths on the other hand were extremely popular and thus ideal for a state religion to include them. The state religion worked flawlessly for millenia, preserved the knowledge of ancients, prevented total domination of singular kingdoms in Europe which fostered competition and technological growth. The Roman Empire failed because it tried to include foreigners in its political process and liberated women, mock modern Christcuckery all you want but it served its purpose well in Europe and without it you would probably be a Muslim with brown skin, assuming you aren't a paki already judging by your flag.
