Paganism isn't a word made by the people who had it, it was a blanket term to describe dozens of organic religions that emerged throughout Europe before states emerged as coherent objects.

Pagan was also a pejorative, like calling a black person a Nigger. And so if someone ten thousand years from now said that black people followed the "niggerism" religion, that would be similar to what you're saying now that Paganism has attributes.
