You can't even do this anymore in lots of places. Wish I could find the high school again but there's one in a wealthy part of LA County that has a mandatory majority minority policy so over 50% of the students have to be non-white (even though whites are a minority in LA) and the school is like 55% BIPOC and flaunt it on their website as being a good thing because of "diversity".

i started teaching in 2007

schools were still normal then - white population in public school was at its peak because boomers had plenty of kids (millennials)

then boomers kids started graduating, and we were slowly getting gen X kids (zoomers), and thats when it all went wrong... boomers were hands-off as parents, and if they got bad news from the school, they actually handled it and the kid's behavior would change

gen X parents were the opposite - any notification of their child's poor behavior results in them doing nothing, potentially gaslighting, arguing, completely deflecting all responsibility and telling the school that they need to deal with it... many started suing schools for disciplining their child

the entire 2010s were nothing but removing discipline, removing obstacles to graduation, keeping kids in the classroom, lowering academic expectations, etc. schools became less and less white each year, more and more mexicans/mutts started flooding classrooms, and then COVID hit

the issue with common core are the state assessments (SBAC) which aren't standardized (people take different tests), they won't tell you what's going to be on the test, they won't tell you how it will be scored, and they won't publish past versions (because it's not standardized)
