Israel is unironically defending the west. Or at least defending western hegemony. Israel is like a tool used by western nations to keep the middle east relatively weak and divided. The west can indirectly destabilize Arab nations that go against the west, and Israel takes all the blame. They also give them weapons so they can test against Arab cannon fodder. It's a win-win situation for the elites who run the show.

There was once a time when the Arab world was conquering European lands. The fact is that middle easterners have historically been the biggest rivals of the west, that's just a historic reality. You have it completely backwards. Third worlders are only able to have their cushy lifestyle (electricity, paved roads, food assistance, infrastructure, a semblance of government) because we subsidize them. This is a mischaracterization. European leaders are handpicked for their willingness to serve israel. Every politician is forced to write a letter of allegiance to israel upon assuming office; their campaigns are financed by jewish political funding, and much like the US, they have assigned handlers who ensure they always stay on the "right side" of the jewish issue. Anyone running on an explicitly antisemitic platform is ousted from the political process immediately. The EU's existence is solely to prevent another National Socialist uprising - the goal of a system is what it does.

This is like saying fire ants are the biggest rival of two knights in a sword fight because they stung one of the knights through his shoe a couple times. The intra-European conflicts were on a scale so vast that there is literally no comparison. You are comparing desert goat herders on horseback with scimitars to European kingdoms with vast armies of plate armor, archers, siege weapons and cavalry. The only force that even somewhat rivaled historical European armies was the Mongols, and even so, they were a zerg horde that only succeeded due to their numbers and horseback archery.

The reason the middle east is weak today is not because of Europeans giving them a drubbing in the middle ages. It's because israel has global power, the jews have subjugated both the EU and the USA, and they're brazenly committing atrocities all over the middle east every day. The last 80 years have been one israeli atrocity after another. Without their coopting of our governments, the middle east would unironically be a peaceful place with some small skirmishes between Sunnis and Shiites.
