massive revisions down have been the norm ever since the rise of the internet and the gig economy because the indicators the BLS uses to make their job numbers no longer work
one of the main metrics the BLS uses to determine how many jobs were created is to look at how many companies were started. the average new company, for most of american history, employed like 3-12 people. so when the BLS sees a bunch of new companies, they expect those companies to hire this amount of people on average.
but now, with internet careers, uber, doordash, all these sort of revenues, the average new company is a single person employing absolutely no one, just filing for an LLC for tax purposes. so, when weeks later the actual job numbers (based on IRS data and such) come in, it gets revised down. over and over and over again.

also, somewhat related, it's important to keep in mind that historically, because of this delayed metric, recessions almost always get "declared" once they're already long underway. you will live for months in a recession before the official indicators catch up and say "oh yeah we've been in a recession all along"

Pretty funny that Trump fired the previous head of the BLS and put a loyalist in charge of it, hoping to tilt the jobs reports in his favor. Then they come out even worse under the new head of the BLS. Almost like firing the previous woman was pointless performative bullshit and there is actually a serious employment problem happening in the US.

Everything after that has been market manipulation through money printing, media gaslighting and exploitation of the few industries still flourishing in the US(mainly IT related).

No, they cause companies like John Deere to move their entire operation to Mexico, so they can source all their parts from across the world with zero tariffs, pay cheap labor, and then their tractors are import with a single set of tariffs paid by the dealer and passed on to the buyer.

>the importer can't afford to keep paying
The Importer isn't buying for his personal use, he's filling his lot/store with goods for sale. If he pays 15% more, the prices go up 15%.
It's simple math.
The only time it's hurting importers is when the tariff rates keep changing weekly, and it makes their accounting a disaster because they can't plan expenses. That's all Dolan is doing to world trade, throwing it into chaos.

And it would take MASSIVE tariffs to make domestically built $5000 refrigerators competitive with Mexican assembled ones. And BOTH have a lot of foreign made parts in them.
It took decades to make things this way, it would take decades to undo it. And the people who made generational wealth off pushing production overseas? None of them are being asked to "share the pain" of this half-hearted attempt. In fact they got presents this year from the Administration.

If they rate cut borrowing will become cheaper, people will invest more in equities to gain a higher margin, interest on debt effective cost would lower, and a weaker dollar would boost sales abroad.

the argument in 2018 against the cut was economy was doing well, a rate cut was going to overheat it.
But what is the argument for an increase in inflation in 2025, if we have 8.1% of unemployment should cutting the rate be beneficial?

The reality about our economy is that it's fucked. Trump didn't do it. He's just currently president. So anyone who's trying to lay the blame at Trump's feet are full of shit.

You can search up Warren Buffet liquidating a large amount of stocks in 2023-24. Look at the SVB stuff... they quietly bailed out several banks. They're insolvent. They printed Trillions of dollars, and have been propping up the economy.

It's a house of cards.

It was pretty much inevitable, Trump's team messing around with tariffs has introduced so much uncertainty into the global economic system centered around the USA. It's one thing to raise a tariff but it's another to say the rate will be 30%, no 50%, no 15%, no 200% all across the course of a month and then say okay it will be 0% for 2 more weeks while we hammer out the deal. Importers don't know wtf to expect and literally every business has imports somewhere in its supply chain.

I don't know why this had to be so difficult. Pick a few industries you want to dominate and tariff there, tariff on high value added products. Don't tariff inputs and if you want inputs to be produced locally for strategic security reasons, subsidize local producers so you're capable of scaling up if hostile foreign powers try to cut us off. Blanket tariffs are the dumbest policy instrument imaginable. Yes let's tariff tropical produce that the USA literally does not have the climate to produce to support the tiny Hawaiian coffee industry when those people didn't vote for Trump anyways.

This is why it's so insidious when private equity kikes hollow out a middling company to run on a skeleton crew and why it's a fallacy to cheer AI replacing anybody. Most of our jobs are extraneous they're an effort to find a purpose for people. We can't let eugenicists hide behind AI. Anybody replaced rather than empowered is a direct attack on humanity.

>Prices rising aren't a depression. Prices dropping are a depression.

Stagflation which is when we get both of worst worlds. Stagnant/reduction in mainstreet economy + Inflation.
Which is just symptomatic of the bigger issue, everything is so overleveraged , where there's $100 dollars of debt obligation for each dollar in existence. So you must constantly expand the money supply to prevent that catastrophic debt implosion, to keep the inefficiences in the system from becoming too big to fail. In the meantime debt servicing becomes so much of a burden that the economy (mainstreet) contracts. but at the same time that new money/ new debt piles up into inflation.

It's just representative of the underlying issue. TOO MUCH BAD DEBT to serve the elitist class. Not into productive debt that has returns.

We're witnessing the fatal flaw of Neo-Keynseian economics. And TRUMP is one of the biggests fans of this system because of his life long real estate ventures which strives on inflationary environments (Asset inflation). But as always, you can't "Print your way to prosperity" but you sure as fuck can steal that wealth through inflation from the poor to the rich and that's what has been happening and will CONTINUE to happen at an accelerating rate. Why? Because Trump has announced through his BBB and demands from the FED, THIS IS WHAT HE WANTS, that's why he YOLO'd into BTC and Trump coins...so he can profit by killing the dollar or transferring wealth through debasement.

That started under Trump Biden ended COVID in like a year because of how much money trump pumped into the Jews with operation bleach lightbulb. Trump gave away what was left of the economy at the beginning of COVID but we did get 3 years of good economy with him it's just that ending where he gave trillions to the Jews and let Democrats shut down America that shit the casket. None of this plastic bullshit you get from China is essential. China doesn't make engines or computer parts. They don't sell oil either. They have no meaningful pressure point other than consumer/entertainment technology, which is really just mental poison through tiktok and cheap bullshit subsidized by wigger slave labor. Even China's steel is usually sub-par unless you pay a premium.
Korea and Taiwann handle microchips, and they're both allies. The only reason America has so much farmland is because it's subsidized. The cheap corn keeps food prices artificially low (remember that, remember that cows eat corn, remember also too it causes crazy obesity) but it also keeps America full of farmland so there's no food cutting point. Cut off oil and the country breaks in a few days. Cut off food and it's a few weeks. Cut off the flow of camera phones and people whine about it for a few months while the markets figure it out.
But yeah China also goes against international trade regulations and subsidizes industries. The USA would have led the world in solar technology but China pumped state money into their solar industry which spurred development and dropped their costs, which devastated other companies globally - which is why the international regulation exists. China is an enemy but a weak and slimy one. I'm just afraid that our leaders look to China's authoritarian incompetence as a model to aspire to.

Even that is dishonest if you're trying to say that Trump personally came up with such a plan.

I think it's more honest to realize that the QE shit the Obama admin did after the housing crisis simply kicked the can, and they chose to pump trillions more dollars in... Like I said, it's fucked. Look at the fucking Dow Jones...

The dow was like, 20k in 2019-2020. 20k. HOW THE FUCK does it go to 45k? Our stuff didn't become more valuable. That entire thing is rigged, and at some point people are getting rug pulled. That's why it's concerning that they're doing shit to allow 401k to buy up more risky investments like these houses these investment firms have bought en masse.

Housing is a huge scam. This lady on infowars recently even stated that in some cases, these guys are buying in bulk houses which may be ... 500k, but they're buying bulk for 300k. Then they manipulate listings, and inflate the value of the house. So then they have a house they paid 300k for, listing for 700k, and then they've falsely inflated their other houses by 400k for example. THEN when banks lend that money, they're printing money.. .they can print more money.

But the house isn't work 700k. It's worth 300k.

We've been in a slow decline since trade was vastly opened with China, thanks to Nixon and Carter. Then came NAFTA, thanks to Clinton. I watched my country and my future rapidly transform beginning in the early 90's. My town was hit by Walmart and Kmart at the same time. So many smaller businesses closed for good. Our mall changed, too. All of the specialty stores run by locals were priced out by the chains. We also had several local factories shut down and move their operations overseas.

And so began an even more urgent push for everybody to go to college. The one great big promise was the tech industry. Well, a lot of people got rug pulled on that. Those jobs got packed up and shipped overseas as well.

In the early 90's I had many friends working part-time minimum wage jobs while they lived in cheap apartments and went to college. I remember a two-bedroom apartment my friends share for $200 a month. They were both enrolled in college at $1200 a semester. Minimum wage was $4.25. That apartment still exists today, for $1800 a month. A semester at that same college costs $5,000 a semester. Minimum wage is $7.25.

Had to happen, It's Triffin's dillemma, Triffin's paradox.
As USD Reserve, you must continaully run trade deficits to SUPPLY THE WORLD with USD, in exchange they buy US DEBT. This lowers rates, in turn Gov can spend more, and get rich.
Who gets fucked over? MAINSTREET USA.
The deal you make with the devil in having a fiat Reserve, is that you have to gut your own economy to keep it going. To supply the world dollars.
Mainstreet's impoverishment is a feature of our system, not a bug. Interest rates dictate all, it is the holy grail. This is why real wages have to continue to decline, because wage inflation is directly tied to inflation expectations. If inflation expectations rise, so do interest rates, if that happens with all this debt... game over.

Our system is so fucked up. It's only because normies don't know how it works that this can continue to go on.

There's plenty of stupid people anon. Prices go up and all expenses are passed on to the purchaser, sure, but hey Trump said they were a good deal lol.
Billionaires don't give a fuck about tarrifs but even they generally don't like them if they own one of these chain of production or point of sale companies, since higher prices for no apparent reason usually scares away purchasers (oh look the economy keeps shitting itself).
But today the billionaires will gladly take tariffs since the tariffs are bundled with billionaire tax cuts. I'm fucking baffled that the billionaires are getting tax cuts. I guess the boomers were the only middle class that mattered and they all retired lmao. Damn, politics are going to look crazy when the boomers are all dead. It will just be like 17 billionaires in the USA, with 300 million broke asses, and 50 million millionaires that look like broke asses.

The ironic thing is, Trump himself used to complain about the jobs report being a fake number that the government puts out to make themselves look better.
>Trump, during the campaign and in its aftermath, slammed the monthly numbers put out by the Bureau of Labor Statistics, particularly the unemployment rate. During an Iowa rally in early December, he said the calculation is "totally fiction."

>"If you look for a job for six months and then you give up, they consider you give up," he said. "You just give up. You go home. You say, 'Darling, I can't get a job.' They consider you statistically employed. It's not the way. But don't worry about it because it's going to take care of itself pretty quickly."

you apparently don't know tariffs are only applied on top of the cost of the product. Which means only the consumer pays. Maybe early on in a tariff cycle will a company 'eat' a portion of the new price on items already under contract. But that is a one time deal over in a couple months max.

Then its just you paying. While the billionaire keeps making his returns. The fuck are you doing to do? Not buy it? Thats a laugh, find that same product anywhere made in the US. And if there is one, something you can accidentally afford without being a billionaire already. That list is stupid small btw.

Also, non of that production came back to the US now 8 months later. It at best only shipped ot a different nation for them to claim they made it before shipping it to you. Making your tariffs charge lower, but still a higher price than before that YOU pay.

Tariffs only work to protect domestic production. Which the US has nothing.

you think companies won't try to renegotiate prices with their suppliers to make the supplier eat some of the tariff? in reality, it's not any one party that pays the cost. some goes to the consumer, some comes out of both the importer and exporter's profit margin. if you think otherwise, try and prove that 100% of it goes to the consumer. protip: you won't be able to.

I don't believe it, either. My current job was almost cut (along with the rest of my division) but we've been told things will be fine for at least another year and to not worry. Yeah, okay, uh huh. I've been job hunting for the past few months and it is terrible. TERRIBLE. I haven't even been too picky about it, other than I don't want to scrub floors. I have a degree beyond a bachelor's, many years of experience, and I can't get callbacks on a basic office job that claims to only require a high school degree. The universities are especially bad about this. They'll post a job for an "Administrative Specialist" and claim only high school is required for it so that they can pay under $24,000 a year. Oh, but it ain't just answering phones, greeting visitors, you know, receptionist stuff. It's must advise students must add students/drop students from classes must schedule rooms for classes (that used to be a job) and its answer phones/write letters/maintain files/greet visitors (that used to be a job) maintain the budget order supplies order equipment provide reimbursements conduct audits (that used to be a job) design newsletters maintain website maintain social media presence (that used to be a job) allllllllll rolled into one "Administrative Specialist" position to the tune of around $25,000 a year that people with graduate degrees wind up applying for because there ain't nuthin' else.

you are describing the first couple months of a tariff cycle. Once the in production goods under contract are flushed thru the system that all goes away. You most certainly are NOT getting other companies to eat those tariffs themselves, they'll simply laugh at you and say pay or no delivery. And there is a legal clause that you can cancel contracts that have gone bad outside of your control, which a tariff counts so even being under contract may not help for those few months. depends on if the suppliers / logistics care about keeping you as a customer on contract, which they wont if you have no other option.

Nigger, this isn't some obscure shit I just said. Its basic business to business trade internationally. Yes, 100% of that tariff IS going to the consumer, just a lag from when it happens to when it hits your price.

>this anon thinks his retail price at walmart is where the tariff is priced.
>so he expects his croc's to go up by that tariff rate on his sticker.

You can charge 200k for a single tractor in the US vs hundreds of products made in china for that same 200k. China comes out ahead on manufacturing. yea, the 10 guys who actually put the tractor together for that 200k vs the 200+ guys who actually built the parts of everything else made.

On paper sounds like we produce a lot. Cause DOLLARS!

In real goods, we don't even produce that one tractor because more than half of it comes from overseas anyway. That big manufacturing number ONLY comes from the dollar being the reserve currency and the government subsidizing most of the big ticket products in the US itself. While china has more people in actual manufacturing making shit than the entire male population of the US combined.

China is producing manufacturing goods at a rate of 12-15x the US as a nation. The dollar exchange means nothing compared to that. Hence why the US is only coasting on fed bucks being printed and givin away.

Currently, in America, a single black woman on welfare who shits out three+ kids and sits on her ass all day is compensated better than many, many workers. She gets free food, free healthcare, a free apartment, a free spending line, free healthcare and food for her kids, the list goes on. The average full-time worker has to share an apartment or live with their parents. We're living in a split economy.

If they take the gibs away from the ghetto queens we will get nigger riots. Those gibs will be the last to go. So the first thing they're going to do once enough boomers are dead is cut benefits for retirees and seniors. Because they have to keep the niggers fed to avoid nationwide Rodney King riots. Cutting those benefits will flood even more people into the workforce. Younger boomers, older gen x. More and more people are going to begin noticing Shaquandra with her acrylics and weave hanging down to her ass piling steaks and lobster tails into her cart. It is going to become MUCH more obvious. Meanwhile, more and more younger people will arrive at working age, graduate from college, and stress the workforce even further. Meanwhile, AI will continue chipping away at jobs.

I think we're going to eventually be forced into some sort of Universal Basic Income situation. More government control than ever. Rent control. Food control. They'll figure out how to take the guns away, of course. Eventually this country will be a commie shithole where 98% live in poverty and squalor while your tippy top 1 and 2%s have private security and live in their little champagne bubbles.
