If it is wrong, peak human is much closer. Demographic forecasts are an odd mix of the certain (all the people who will be 50 in 2070 have already been born) and the unknowable (how many nippers will today’s 20-year-olds choose to have?). On a long time-scale, exponential shrinkage looks astonishingly fast. However, during the initial phase, which is when societies must grapple with the problem, the speed of change ought to be manageable.

There are several reasons to doubt the doomsayers. Artificial intelligence may be hyped, but it is plainly advancing faster than populations are likely to shrink. So it, or another as-yet-unknown technology, will surely ease the drag on innovation from dwindling numbers of human boffins.

The situation in my opinion is that if you for example were living your life in 80's or early 00's, you most likely and even if you already had some notion of the dark side of humanity, you were still a bit "ignorant" to it, or just less conscious compared to now, before the internet was not so influent so you probably did not had much notion of the world outside your space.

Well, I do think that is part of it, some women do want more independence and probably don't want some weird broke ugly guy; but I am also talking about the overall economic situation not just for single women. Even men and women within ongoing relationships or married are having less sex and thus less children until much later even if they're sexually active. The previous graph I shared also shows that younger age groups not having kids (like teenage girls at 15-19) which some people don't view as a negative thing. There was after all an issue with unwed teenagers and single moms. There is an active choice to not have or avoid having children at a younger age even if they do have sex. Plus there are contraceptives, abortions and other things reduce the rate of kids, which is a choice to use for better or worse. Again, it really is up to society to decide if that is something worth addressing and to change. Of course, it's funny you got that meme flag on that screams "they owe me" like a typical brown incel
