It's hard up here, getting charged 30-50% income tax is no joke, it kills every investment and job.
If I make 15 per hour and income tax is 30% then I really make 11.5 per hour.

You have to add together the provincial and the federal and figure out what it'll actually come to but for example this year I am paying about 50% tax because I inherited some taxable income, so now anything I make per hour is cut in half until january 1 .
Tax starts at 20% or something and goes up from there, so you're paying about 30% at a normal job. 20% on a 15 per hour job is still 3 bucks, so 12 not 15. and then once you pass the income threshold it goes up to 30% or whatever for the next bit.
