for some reason this event means nothing to me. People die everyday. This news will be forgotten next week when something more interesting comes

Yeah, when I see people posting about how upset/sad they were I always wonder if that's feigned outrage or whether I'm just an unemotional POS. I genuinely cannot bring myself to care over something like this. Rationally, I understand that it's sad for his daughters, but I don't feel much of anything looking at the footage.

Must add: Partially that might be because it was such a clean shot. The lights went out immediately, he probably didn't even process any part of it.
If it had been footage of someone torturing him or whatever it might have been more upsetting to me

I was in the army and saw a right arm-left leg double amputation. I carried his arm and leg away wrapped in plastic to where I assume they incinerated them. And now I work by a dam where someone committed suicide. I didn’t see the act, but happened to walk out and see the aftermath. Dude hit some rocks and made a really impressive blood splatter. I don’t enjoy gore videos or anything, but blood and death just doesn’t bother me at all.

There’s a parasocial aspect to it for many people. A lot of people grew up watching Charlie’s debates and felt a sense of loss when he died

The vast majority of people are pussies, yes. An extreme few are desensitized to gore from being terminally online. Normal people haven't consumed 125 hours worth of Chinese people being eaten limb-by-limb by escalators and watermills.
