History Major Here, Reading History is what made me a Leftist
Human societies have traditionally been crafted using tyrannical, irrational, and inefficient hierarchies that separate human beings based on irrelevant characteristics. The Caste system in India is the perfect example of this, being born to a certain group of humans determines whether you're an elite or treated like a suhuman forever. It makes no sense to limit ones' potential over a bullshit factor like that. Feudal Europe was exactly the same way. A genius born to a feudal village had zero opportunity or means of moving about. So much human potential was wasted because of tyranny, authoritarianism, and unnatural hierarchy.
What made the United States great was its embracement of Liberal and Egalitarian ideas. In the United States, a poor person shipped from Ireland could choose to get a job wherever someone was willing to employ him. He had absolute property rights to save and invest his capital in productive enterprise, he had inalienable rights and if a richer man killed him or robbed him, he would be punished for violating the natural rights of another human being.
It's these left-wing protestant enlightenment ideas, largely spread about via the British Empire, that created modern day America, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and the success of Western Europe.
