Good for you OP. Now go learn some history they don't teach in school. I'd start with some T.V. documentaries that might have some things you skipped. Then go read the fine details from obscure books few people read and Wikipedia to connect the dots. History for the masses is curtailed to fit a cultural narrative with a few warnings on what not to do. Even college courses you get cherry picked stuff. I litterally found this information out for this meme by using wikipedia as a starting point when I looked up everyone in this picture. Hours of fun and found an excellent book explaining why a civil war was needed to end slavery in America. I would have never found it from any college course. I am a centrist by the way.
