It's not. The fragility of the AR platform is mostly ancient boomer myths from 'nam when out of spec ammo, incorrect maintenance instructions and several cut corners resulted in a bunch of low quality weapons. All of these issues were fixed before the end of Vietnam. The only aspect where the AK is more durable is barrel life and that's only if you're shooting 7.62x39 which is lower pressure.

The AK-47 is fundamentally a late WWII era weapon and all modernization efforts make it more like the AR, which ran with basically all of the concepts of an intermediate caliber light rifle and took them to their logical conclusion while the AK remained with one foot in the rifle side of things with a much larger bullet and heaver ammunition.

>>518642479
i liked this video when it first came out because it also indirectly btfos people obsessed with piston ARs spouting the IT SHITS WHERE IT EATS meme. The fact that it shits where it eats is part of why the AR is actually less bothered by field contamination than the AK is. It is an issue longterm if you never clean and lube it but even the cleaning is technically optional. People have run through entire barrel lifespans, 20k plus rounds without doing an actual clean, just overlubing the bolt to get around it.

I used to run the AK based on the old Vietnam War (not war) rumors that it is more reliable and has more stopping power.

My AK jammed one time when it counted. The rifle is also heavy as fuck, and 3 mags from it feels like a full battle load.

Plus now everyone uses optics. Not red dots. But the kind of optics that let you score a headshot while your opponent can't even see you at all.

The siderail on the AK is a total cope that thing stinks.

The Armalite has massive stopping power inside 150 yards, and is optic friendly as fuck die to the one piece upper receiver design.

Have fun with your AK. I sold mine, and I'm loving my Armalite.

He's not wrong, AR platform runs into performance issues in extreme cold while the AK does not. Some of this is due to how the gun operates but even piston ARs don't perform as well in the cold as AKs simply because AKs are built with loose tolerances. So it doesn't matter if thermal expansion or contraction throws parts out of alignment by a few mm which can kill a high tolerance gun.

Similar reason why gucci 1911s are jammier than turkshit, the turkshit will never be as accurate but it will tolerate more operation conditions.

It does better in ice, but in frozen situations where you fucked up, and let it happen to freeze into a solid. You can watch video on the AK recovering very fast and the armalite taking forever. But that caters to that particular situation. Outside of that happening your still dealing inferiority of the AK. It's no headshot machine like the Armalite with a combat optic.

Surprised no ones mentioned it's much more reliable to suppress an AR than an AK. 7.62x39 is also not super suitable for suppression. It's also part of the reason the Soviets switched to 5.45.

5.56 really is the do-it-all round for the modern infantryman. Carrying two extra magazines, maybe three, for the same weight as 7.62x39 is really a game change for the average ability for infantryman to suppress.

Plus, mounting optics is far easier on an AR platform.

It's the receiver design that sucks. The entire top of the AK is called a dust cover. It's removeable. If they would make some of it a solid piece then it would be able to mount optics without a wondering zero.

Okay you're either trolling or retarded. To clarify this statement for other noguns Indians: Milled AKs are pretty much just produced for the civilian market, the AK-47 was originally milled because Russia didn't have the technical capability to produce stamped parts. As they got there the AK-47 developed into the AKM which was stamped. The old tooling for milling ended up in some other parts of the former comblock.

Milled receivers offer no real advantage and weigh slightly more. Durability isn't a concern because unless you're using welded potmetal receivers that isn't the failure point. You'll rebarrel an AK a dozen times before a receiver fails.

I've shot my ar10 in subzero temps.

You realize that ARs were originally chambered in 7.62×51, right?

Also, the AK is a much more easily manufactured weapon that uses stamped parts where as practically everything on an AR is machined.

I own both AR platform rifles and AK platform rifles. The AR is superior in terms of accuracy while the AK is superior in terms of reliability but both are fine weapons.

You sound like you dont have much experience with either and you dont know that the AK74 was chambered in 5.45x39 for many of the same reasons the M16
was chambered in 5.56x45.

Why are you comparing AK-47 to modern day AR? AK-12 is the new issue and aside from the dust cap, it's the perfect winning war machine and it never jams. AR is weaker, has low range, and the barrel just floats. AK is made for ice but newer platforms out performs SIG, AR, and SCAR. If you install a better scope in AK instead of Iron sights, it wins in all aspects compared to AR platforms.

The AK-47 has a very powerful caliber for such a weapon, 7.62×39 mm. Vietnamese soldiers noted that it blew off parts of American soldiers' heads, which was very unethical, as it made it difficult to identify the dead. This is one of the reasons why the USSR switched to the 5.45x39 caliber.
Anonymous (ID: cWGShMqF) United States No.518646221 [Report] >>518646868

The Russians don't even use the ak47 anymore and haven't for decades. They even switched to a caliber that is a tad bit smaller than the what the m4 shoots i.e. the ak74. The m4 is more percise, the reliability issues are overblow (it isn't the Vietnam era anymore ya know), and you can modulate the gun for any situation very easily. For me though it is the mini-14, I don't know what it is about it but I like the aesthetics.

>>518640480
Which is turning out to be a terrible heavy rifle and the only reason it is being considered by the US Army is because SIG is giving "gifts" to the right people. If they are going back to standard issue battle rifles for your average soldier they should have just adopted a modernized M14, G3, FN FAL, or AR-10. At least those battle rifles are battle proven but overall the AR-10 would make the most sense because it is basically the M-16 platform which every US soldier is familiar with at this point chambered in 7.62x51 so you wouldn't need additional training to know how to operate it.

G3 is the real rifle of the white man. The spiritual successor to Sturmgewehr. But I can also tolerate FN FAL.

The mini 14 is not heavy at all. Unloaded the mini 14 only weighs around 6 pounds, is this seriously too heavy for you?

I'd like to move to Canada because of this and other reasons. But with my mental health condition I'll live in a tent under the bridge.

This. The modern AR has been torture tested 30,000 rounds without cleaning by the guys on YouTube. It’s extremely reliable and it’s more accurate and lighter than an ak. Way better. The ak is old and an amazing weapon but it’s heavy and not as accurate at distance.

It's easy, just collect money for the college or university and you are here (if visa officer don't reject your papers). I'm bi, but with my life expirence I don't want to date with man anymore, and I go to the church.
